I don't think the Clans will stop be acculturated with IS influence, I think Alaric is hoping for a united foreign policy under the IlClan border. Trials will still happen, but if Alaric says "we're destroying the Combine", then all the Clans launch attacks on the Combine simultaneously.

Reading the Blood of Kerensky trilogy I actually find Grand Council (And Clan Council) politics pretty neat, so if Alaric's policy results in a reborn Grand Council that actually does stuff that would be a boon to the fiction.

I'm willing to bet with the new IlClan era we're going to see a stalemate. The Clans are all in the IlClan/nuStar League at the center of the Inner Sphere, and the Great Houses and hinterlands are surrounding them. Every state is at war with everyone else, alliances are shifting. Anyone could fight anyone. And there we go, new status quo for the next decade or so.

Alaric has also opened the door to allow the Nova Cats to become a Clan again, although he hasn't said anything officially, just that he wants to avenge their death at the hands of the Combine. Given that the Spirit Cats are currently split on protecting the IlClan vs. staying loyal to the League, there's a good shot that the Nova Cats will come back with no more abjuration, similar to how Alaric brought back the Smoke Jaguars.

I think Alaric realizes the only way the IlClan is going to survive is if every single Clan backs it up, and he cuts down on the inter-Clan fighting so they can present a united front to the Inner Sphere.
I think Alaric also doesn't realise that bringing back the Smoke Jaguars is a terrible idea. Anihilating them was a statement of intent from the Inner Sphere, and having him pretend that unlimited warfare isn't going to bother the Clans is a terrible idea, especially when the Clans have just had to deal with Malvina's stupidity. Sure they might have adapted to some Inner Sphere concepts like "punching mechs" but they're still teeny tiny forces. I wouldn't be surprised to see Operation NO BACKSIES launched to deal with it, taking advantage of the problems in the various Clans.

Imagine hearing your faction is going to come back and when it happens it's just as bootlickers for one of the worst characters in the fiction. I can't imagine there's a single Falcon fan who looked at the two options and said "well Jiyi is fighting for his life against impossible odds, but on the other hand Tara Campbell is 48 and is written like she's 14. I really liked Ken Horner's article in Shrapnel 12 about how, no, people from Donegal aren't just Irish, they're significantly different because of 800 years of cultural drift. But it's totally cool if someone from Donegal wants to go visit Ireland, just don't pretend that having an ancestor who lived there 800 years ago makes you Irish.

The Scotland stuff in HotW was the absolute opposite of that.

If you find any others, please let me know!

Unfortunately, none of the official train scales really match 6mm/1:285. Z scale comes closest at 1:220 but still looks enormous, and is pretty rare to boot. About the only other way to get a train at that scale would be 3D printing.

Again, this would take someone who's a Steiner-Davion to bring about, and Alaric should just admit he is one already, or go pound sand because multi-faction power blocs in the writing nowadays is dead dead dead and no amount of wishing or optimistic worldview is going to bring it back.

You were more likely to see a multi-faction bloc in the period where there were only like two characters per faction and they needed them just to give people someone to talk to. Now that they've realized that, oh, these are complex nation states that hold large amounts of territory, they can have more than two people in them, that space in the story is kinda filled. Trillian can send people to treat with Tamar and Arc-Royal rather than New Avalon.

I admit the reverse Uno of the Clans being the central power and the rest of the Inner Sphere being the looming threat on the border is amusing :D.

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m getting a definite vibe we’re going from a couple major powers to several smaller powers squabbling for lesser stakes. It brings back the era of a lance or two making all the difference in a planetary battle if that’s all anyone usually has available.

No need to wonder; the neo-Jags are getting fleshed out on the MUL just like the other new factions of ilClan era. Filtering out the clantech stuff provides quite a few examples of inherited equipment.

Same problems as both the Marauder (unprotected ton of ammo in the left torso) and Hunchback IIC (paper-thin armor) combined and all saddled to a quad, which are easier to make genuinely accidental maneuvering mistakes with.

The OG JM6-S JagerMech's up there, too. Less likely to die to an ammo crit, but even less armor than the Scorpion.

Edit: It's less explosive, but there's also the Capellan CGR-1L Charger. That's the one that trades in the small lasers for a large laser and two mediums (at the cost of 4.5 tons of armor, giving it just slightly more armor than a Locust).
