I started subbing to PS+ a few months before the PS4 came out (free crossbuy games was a really nice hook!) and yeah it’s pretty beefy. And if you forget to top off your PS+ before it lapses, they alllllllllllll jump to the front of your library when sorted by recent.

Ok I get that after eleven Mortal Kombat games doing a soft reboot and calling it Mortal Kombat makes a little sense but did they really make a direct sequel to Lords of the Fallen and just straight up call it Lords of the Fallen again

Maybe I’m just getting old but the amount of gore in the MK1 trailer is gnarly, I have zero desire to play a game that includes people getting their eyes gauged out. I haven’t played the most recent games, are there actually fatalities like that now?

The old 2D goofy giblets never bugged me... but some of the stuff from the last couple of generations is a bit torture porn-ish.

For me it's less the actual gore and more the realistic reactions of pain and fear as someone knows they are being murdered. So the most egregious offender to me will always be the paid Last of Us Factions executions pack that makes your opponent beg for their life for one second before you smash their skull open

I bought MK11after it was praised a lot, and it was a decent game but also overlaid with a ton of bullshit like premium currency and seems like the next will be the same, so I think I'm going to skip it. I can't be bothered to play anything with that poo poo anymore.

It's strange to me that the publisher would try to trade on the good name of Lords of the Fallen, considering the first one wasn't especially well-received and it's not even being made by the same developer. Maybe it's like Prey 2017 where they just had to renew the title for trademark purposes and gave it to anything vaguely similar to the original product.

the new mk fatalities are certainly most detailed but the most upsetting one is still noob saibot wishbone from mk9 ten years ago just because of the sound design edit: guess you cant spoiler yt embeds? oh well look up noob saibot "make a wish" fatality if you're curious
