I ran into this issue before and the above more or less worked, with making sure I wasn't clicking on the html ones moving forward.

My roof is at the point where it is getting ready to replace, just waiting on a hail storm to push it over the edge so the insurance will pay. Federal tax rebates for solar do NOT cover costs of roof replacement unless there is some structural reinforcement required to carry the load of the panels. Incremental costs of a reflective roof may qualify. It seems lots of people are deducting roofs and probably won’t be audited, but it’s still tax fraud

I certainly wouldn't feel safe adding hundreds of permanent pounds of weight to the roof without extra structural reinforcement. An asphalt shingle assembly is around 15 psf and live load is usually around 20 psf. Structural engineers are also pretty big on adding a safety factor (20% seems common in my experience) so that would add additional capacity. Clay tile roofs are closer to 35 psf which would add even more capacity. I’m going through permitting right now on a system at my home and talked to a lot of folks, as far as I can tell structural retrofits are not that common unless there were other mitigating issues with the roof framing. No one I talked to reinforced their framing nor did they report any damage/sag, even for installs in place for several years. Our solar installer - a large regional electrical contractor - performed a site survey prior to designing the system and inspected the roof framing prior to preparing any drawings. I doubt any installer wants to take liability for a roof that failed because they overloaded the system. YMMV!

Where I am, roofs are dimensioned for heavy snow loads, so a solar panel on existing roof type installation is really a non issue. Now if you moved from a sheet metal roof to a heavier solar roof that probably needs some calculations at the least. And likewise if you had a tile roof, I doubt the solar roof is gonna be heavier.

https://deadspin.com/boston-celtics-miami-heat-youtube-tv-nba-little-mermaid-1850451038 YouTube TV’s ECF Game 1 debacle gave NBA cord-cutters an excuse to switch back to cable Viewers saw The Little Mermaid instead of the final minutes of the Boston Celtics-Miami Heat game quote:The last few minutes of Game 1 sound like it was a riveting affair. I, along with millions of others, wouldn’t know, because viewers paying $72.99 a month for YouTube TV missed the last few minutes while the page buffered at the worst possible time. If you’re one of the people, who scrambled to fix your internet to no avail, rest assured it was not you. The leading live-streaming service provider froze like Joe Mazzulla in crunchtime and poo poo the bed worse than the Boston Celtics at home. During a commercial break in the waning minutes, most viewers were stuck rewatching a TV spot for The Little Mermaid on an endless loop.

sports-watchers still need live cable. there are no two ways about it. cable’s the most reliable, it’s not delayed by up to 2min, and, most importantly, it’s the only way to watch your local teams thanks to blackout rules. it’s very, very stupid, and only getting stupider as most leagues are now scattering their games across numerous streaming services as well. even when they have their own product to stream games, like mlb.tv. it’s insane. abelwingnut fucked around with this message at 13:25 on May 19, 2023 |

I used to be a huge NFL and NBA fan but have almost entirely stopped watching sports since I cut the cord 4 or 5 years ago. It's simply not worth it anymore and I've found I have better things to do with 3 or 4 hours of my time most weekends. The NFL in particular is a slog to watch anymore, mostly due to how many ads are aired during a game. It's obnoxious and very hard to sit through even at a sports bar or something. I actually watch less and less TV in general. I have Netflix and Amazon Prime and that is MORE than enough TV entertainment options for me, without adding sports into it. I have stuff sitting in my queue for months that I don't get around to. If I want to keep up with sports, I watch YT videos of the highlights the next morning and pretty much don't miss anything. Thanks Ants posted:$73 a month The article says it started out at like $25/month and I learned that soon they'll be adding more unskippable ads. Commercials are deal breaker for me most times. I loving despise almost all advertising and constantly trying to avoid it

Instead of paying one bill to a cable company to get loads of channels you don't want, you can instead pay more money to ten different streaming providers to get a load of shows you don't want, also sports are delayed by nearly a minute.

You made me check cable prices around me, and the promo pricing for new customers when you also bundle internet is:quote:Internet $45.00 per month So basic cable is at least $105, it's just structured in a way where they advertise $70 but it's actually more. The crazy part to me is that whats driving both YouTube TV and cable costs crazy is the "local broadcast fees", which is the stuff you get for free with an antenna.

Weird, hard to believe it's worth the effort for Comcast. Edit: it is pretty tech nightmare that the handful of early adopters willing to buy $200 boxes to watch broadcast NBC then got hosed over. https://news.yahoo.com/man-whose-tesla-model-y-062222430.html A man whose Tesla Model Y caught fire on a California highway says customer service asked him to haul the burned husk of his car to their service center When his Tesla went up in flames, Bishal Malla contacted the company's customer service hoping for answers. Instead, he was met with silence and one absurd recommendation to drag his burnt car to a Tesla-servicing center. Malla, a California resident, was out running errands in his Tesla on May 6. As he was about to enter Highway 99, he felt his car shaking and got out to check for a flat tire. Instead, he found smoke coming from the bottom. Soon enough, his entire car was engulfed in flames. Eventually, he said he was able to talk to a customer-service agent on the phone — but that didn't help him much either. "One agent I talked to had an audacity to tell me to take my fully burned Tesla to the Tesla recommended servicing center," Malla said on Reddit. "How in the world am I going to do that?" Malla told Insider that the agent did not recommend how he could transport his burned car to the servicing center.
