Embarrassing

I kept assuming Alan Ritchman was Scott Eastwood

I literally don’t remember Scott Eastwood in this or the last movie

I forgot Scott Eastwood was even in the movie until his name came up in the credits at the end and I went, oh right, he was in this at the start.

Alan Ritchman is good. He should be in more things.

Momoa carried this movie and Statham brought good intensity and Cena understood it. The best fight scene was Theron vs Rodriguez.

It’s a mess of a movie but let’s hope next one pulls it together.

Ritchson is actually the lead on Amazon's series adaptation of Jack Reacher. Where his hugeness definitely comes into play.

Also I know movies don't care about henchmen but it was still kind of awkward how quickly the Family went kill crazy on Agency troops. Like they were only following orders trying to take down who they thought were terrorists.

When Letty poked her head out onto the surface, I half-expected a reminder to stay subscribed to HBOmax for next week's episode. When this comes out on streaming, I might have to see if it's actually made up of 45-minute chunks and then I can make a conspiracy theory that this was supposed to be a miniseries.

IIRC him talking to Justin Lin about D&D campaign pacing was instrumental in getting the series back on track.

It does seem like they have statistics and equipment, like:

Dom has high stats in Family, Cars and Muscle; with a specialty for Muscle Car and a penchant for legendary Chargers. Key skills of Living Life 1/4 Mile At A Time, Family, and Wrench.

Brian had similarly high stats except his were in Charm, Cars and Agility. He specialised in JDM and he favoured Skylines. More akin to a Rogue.

Mouse had low skills in Driving but high Mechanic. Cypher has max Hacking skills. Shaw doesn't have as much of a car specialty but access to good equipment and a high Fighting skill. Tyrese has maximum Luck.

I don't think I'm the first person to break this down and I suspect there's a far lengthier version in Vin's trailer. Which, actually, would be an amazing piece of treasure for a homebrew RPG campaign...

One of the worse the fast and the furious movies but there was still some fun bits. But goddamn the dialogue is sooooooooo bad now and the music they keep picking for these movies is like the most nameless and soulless, but on purpose, music of all time.

For context 3 is my absolute favorite with a bullet. I also did like 9 actually.

But yeah idk this movie had an insane pace to it. Again I mention the dialogue because everyone speaks like they're about to deliver a badass speech or one liner OR its just very specific but like forced references to previous movies of the franchise. Los bandoleros for life lol

I think one of the biggest failings of this franchise (and probably most modern franchises) is that there's no good musical theme to really put those "gently caress yeah" moments over the top. When Dom is doing Dom things like, I dunno, slaying a loving submarine, he doesn't have a "Dom's Theme" song to really emphasize the epicness. For comparison, I watched Creed 1 for the first time the other day, and despite it being my first ever Rocky film that I've ever watched, when the Rocky theme kicked in during the final match? Goosebumps. Even in the first Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning: Part One trailer, the MI theme weaving into the orchestral track was really cool and built up to a cool crescendo.

Danza Kuduro was a banger of a track, but probably not appropriate for an actual theme song. Should've been the forever ED though.

Honestly the music in fast and the furious has been bordering on bad for a long time, but when they scored that huge hit with See you again, they’ve been chasing the golden goose ever since. Like I WISH danza kuduro was in this movie and not like the F tier copy cat of that song.

Also, they got a lot of poo poo for Tokyo Drift's theme and maybe were trying to move from that.

The scores generally aren't great though, I'll say that. 5's is probably the best.

The first F&F movie soundtrack is a real time capsule. A heavy Ja Rule presence.

Tokyo Drift soundtrack is flawless, See You Again was a mega hit and the Dillon Francis "Get Low" track is one of the funnest EDM songs ever.

I do agree there should be a huge John Williams style "Dom's Theme" leitmotif for when he starts flying and stuff.

One of his brothers looks enough like him to make that easier than it might otherwise be, though they're still working with the same body of reference material that was available for F7.

I don't know why she can't be a full-fledged member. Like you say, the audience knows Brian's going to watch the kids so if Dom's family is so important, his sister can be part of the action.
