They're about as good as you could get back then and they all sound really comparable to the original voices. The acting is really, really good and so were the scripts! I can't read any of the manga without hearing the dub voices

Even beyond the characters, the designs and style of tenchi was super fascinating. The jurai having spaceships grown from trees, and the older the tree the larger the ship, is really neat.

I LOVE the spaceship trees and the Juraian fashions and everything. And goddanm do I love Tenchi's house inside the spaceship--the imagery of the vastness of space outside the big living room windows is so firmly stuck in my head.

I still have my old Love Hina DVD's and a keep them in a PS1 disk wallet as a permanent reminder to myself and future generations that they're a product of a time. Opening theme still slaps though.

Matt Baume is always a pro-watch IMO, he's got a lot of great queer media retrospectives. I was too young to really absorb what happened to Ellen back in the day but it's wild to see how grossly conservative the primetime television landscape was at the time. Even crazier to consider that Will & Grace (which I did grow up watching) would debut only a year later to eventual massive success
