I wonder if Guam is part of the Imperial Core or if it is just some colonialist poor person island like Puerto Rico. I think that their geographic significance will mean they'll be okay tho, so i'm hopeful (which is rare for me)

Fingers crossed they get showered in aid relief! Because then I'm more optimistic about my own life!! It would suck a lot if they're left to rot and die!!!

Fair question. I started studying El Nino about 10 years ago as a side passion because of surfing. El Nino is incredible for surf in California.

Absolutely zero professional experience, just a well above average thirst to learn, a lot of time and careful study, and I've been fortunate enough to speak to some of the best minds in the field over the years as well.

Central Europe is turbo hosed, it's been under severe drought conditions for what 2? 3? years now with no sign whatsoever of it easing up. Northern Italy is 8ft under water because they had something like an entire year of rain in 3 days and the alps are nearly barren of snow. it's not a good time this side of the Pacific.

Oh and in the last 6 months Germany has closed down its last remaining nuclear plants and gone all in on coal stations....

I remember when it came time for my father's command tour there was a choice between Sicily and Guam. My mother was particularly disinclined towards Guam because the SOP for typhoons was to evacuate all available and operational (re: valuable) assets and leave the dependents on the island to ride out the storm.
