Serious question:

During COVID, when everything was being served in styrofoam containers, what's the most interesting thing you saw somebody use that poo poo for?

Mine was a guy making a battleship game making tiny ships out of toilet paper. Or maybe the dude who'd just chop that poo poo up and whip it under the gap in his cell door and send it flying at guards like a square frisbee.

*Edit* seriously not trying to make this about me. Just sharing anecdotes to make it more comfortable/relatable?

As was stated above 9/11 + Fox News + the internet really broke a lot of people's brains. It made a lot folks who were predisposed to it become really lovely, many of them for good. I'm not even talking the Islamophobia which was rampant. These days your average random relative that was making off color jokes in the old days is consuming way too much crap and believes all sorts of conspiracy theory stuff that borders on holy war (XYZ are an existential threat to America, and must be destroyed at all costs).

It really took off with Rush Limbaugh who you might remember on the radio (dead, thankfully) but really got going mainstream with Fox News. Fox was kind of a joke in the 90s, a sort of "can you believe this stuff?" but they just never stopped and even won a lawsuit allowing them to legally lie. Their outlandish stuff has continued for the last 25 years and people just kept watching. It's paved the way for a lot more of that kinda stuff on YouTube and other sites. It's easy to self-radicalize out there so be careful about the many sites trying to rile you up with exaggerated headlines.

we had such a big problem with pests like mice, roaches, ants that we weren't allowed to have anything in our cell that might have a tiny bit of food on it. not even if we washed off the containers. but the guys who managed to hold on to some used them for extra padding in the mattresses and pillows, and stuff like you said.

toilet paper dice and playing cards were everywhere. checkers and chess boards too.

covid was godawful. continuous lockdowns, we didn't have vaccines available until late and a lot of inmates refused them. i knew a lot of people that died or that are permanently ill.

but hell, the staff was terrible about giving required meds like insulin anyway. i saw probably 5 or 6 men die from being ignored. sometimes the staff would assume they were od'ing. more than one was dead in their cell for hours, their cellie screaming that he was dead.

I enjoy SA avatars, but my cell service at work is not great and I 100% read way too many threads on here so I have avatars turned off mobile.

This topic moves pretty fast and lets me keep reading things so I am all about it, it doesn't move too fast to where I can't keep up without it becoming like a full time job.
Just right so far.

One banking regulation change that you may not know about :
You can make it so you don't overdraft by declining overdraft protection, this means your debit card will just read out of money (if you are) so keep $20 somewhere for a true emergency, but prevents those banking fat cats from slamming you with $35 fees that are hard for a poor person living paycheck to paycheck to cope with.

The internet has helpful tips some call life hacks, most of which are real and work, but there are fake ones too just to drive traffic or trick you.

They literally have pro wrestlers doing ads for sports betting, explaining how the self-limit features on the apps work, and then doing ads for gambling addiction hotlines all in the same ad.

That tells you everything you need to know.

A good bit bigger but still the runt of the Big 5 pro sports. MLS does not seem on the verge of folding like it did for a long time and I think a lot of the teams have some devoted fanbases. EPL also has a foothold in the states now that you can stream games (I think NBC even broadcasts some of them?)

What up former prison goon. Glad to have you here and hope that you stay clean etc..

As you've seen, most goons are pretty decent folk and don't mind helping someone out, others are well.......

Anyway, I have some questions for you:

Whats some prison lingo that you learned in there?
Like there must have been names for various contraband etc....
Were there special names for porn mags, weed, bootleg liquor etc?

What about various uhhhh "acts"? If one guy was planning on beating up another guy, or like non-consensually sodomizing another dude was there a code word for that poo poo?

How many attempts at escapes were there? Any really creative ones? Any really dumb ones? Like did any prisoners try to hide out in the laundry baskets or garbage cans?

If you want to talk about it, whats the most hosed up thing you saw in there? The funniest?

How many people did you see get released and then come back later on another rap?

I think you mentioned something about movie nights, was there one particular movie that was super popular? Like when whoever asked what movie you guys wanted to watch, did everyone always scream out SCARFACE!!! Or GOODFELLAS!! or something like that?

Also, have you ever heard of this guy named Kirk Johnson?

Don't look at this if you're at work.

NM United is the minor league team here and they're trying to build a stadium with city funds so they can be on footing with the Isotopes so it's definitely gaining

That was what the whole thing came down to. The photo's color contrast is off to begin with. It's a digital image so every person seeing it is going to see it on a different screen, with different brightness/contrast/color settings. In some instances, the photo was modified to wash out the color even more and gently caress with people.
