People say bigger is better.

But for the first time in my life, I think I've gone too far.

I feel like raisins would have a much better reputation in the US if they were used in savory foods. That Uzbek food looks tasty as hell.

They are used in savory recipes in the US, some people just don't like raisins.

It’s so goddamn weird how sweet and savory have become so divorced in so many cooking styles, they’re not opposites, they complement each other well!

Off the top of my head the only popular non-dessert American foods that fold them together are General Tzo’s (and other “Chinese” sugar chicken varieties), mall corn dogs, and catsup.
There are a ton of sweet+savory US foods, which I know because I don’t like the combo. What’s more American than a PB&J? Think about all the honey-glazed or maple-glazed proteins and vegetables. Sweet popcorn (kettle, caramel, chocolate), or regular popcorn with movie-theater candy mixed in. Any kind of meat+fruit, like Hawaiian pizza, pineapple ham, pork chops with applesauce, lamb with mint jelly. Grapes and other fruit in savory salads. Anything with ketchup or barbecue sauce, like baked beans. McGriddles. Bougie sandwiches like grilled cheese with apples or jam.

Or go the other way, dunking fries in your shake or putting bacon in baked goods. Cheddar on apple pies.

I've never really understood what "savory" was supposed to be. Sweet is a taste. Salty is a taste. Sour is a taste. There's a lot of more complex and specific tastes out there that are hard to really nail down in simple terms, but it can't get reduced to specific universal terms because it's not all one two dimensional spectrum that can be objectively measured like color, it's a complex and subjective system of recognizing chemicals that is probably even more than one sense as well.

The one time I get grumpy about there being sweetness that I don't want is sweet sandwich bread, which distracts from the filling.

It's only the Final Battle once all the players are ready.

...Savory is also a taste. MSG is a fairly basic compound that tastes like it, as an example. This is scientifically backed, even; we've identified the receptors that pick it up and have detailed descriptions of the sensations caused. It may have been hotly debated at first back in like 1908 but it's been commonly agreed to exist for over two decades now.

Does all that fat left on the meat render off? Makes me gag to think about biting into that, but probably just because I wasn't raised on it. Rest looks really good.

Edit: I'm seeing it's def way less fat at the end than going in

Yeah but it varies, the lamb can be very fatty and pretty distinctive tasing.

Yeah they also make some flatbread that way too, and I've seen beef buns made like that all the way in Taiwan. Not my photo but it was identical and loving amazing

That's just gonna be a solid wheel of brie under there. Maybe cut it half as thin, making sure the rice is super hot, and omit the burger it'll be melty and good. As it stands, there's a reason why there's no cross-section shot.

Also, I don't think this is street food at all.
