Yea with the cyclonic circulation around a big low over eastern Canada and another off the west coast, you get this interesting spring pattern.

Good to know that all areas outside the continental United States will be receiving between 100 and 110 percent of their expected rainfall.

Don't know about the California situation but there were very few options for evacuating from Fort Mac in Northern Alberta, like two, and the northern road leads even more nowhere if you need things like food, fuel, and shelter. Can't remember but it was probably on fire too. So nice that people keep recording this stuff so we have ready access to their pants-making GBS threads moments of terror. Truly the age of miracles and wonders.

Driving into the wildfire seems like a horrible choice. But driving into the wildfire and then stopping and driving slowly while fire blows across the road around you is an even worse choice. You only get so much time before your air runs out, or your car melts. Get the gently caress out of that ASAP. Hesitating is only going to make it worse.

The delta may be the same from west to east, it's just that everything is warmer. It would depend what baseline they are using. What would really matter for impacts to the global circulation is the displacement and in this case expansion of the area of 28+ C water which supports convection. The location change of the tropical convection is how ENSO influences the global weather. There are still some dying reflections of the La Niña episode, so waters in the central and west Pacific are warming from that. https://coralreefwatch.noaa.gov/data/5km/v3.1/current/animation/gif/ssta_animation_90day_pacific_930x580.gif I usually like looking at this as an indicator of what's coming up as the flow near the thermocline is west to east. A lot of warm subsurface water still. https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/analysis_monitoring/enso_update/wkxzteq.shtml
