Can't you just ask an artist to do the same thing? And the result will even make sense and won't give everyone eighty-seven teeth! Are people really dull enough to think that the AI is somehow revealing previously hidden information once lost in the far dimensions of Artspace, or something??

I think it's telling that those AI pics are posted as being definitive. What is outside the frame, what the rest of it looks like I don't get why AI has this reputation for authoritative truth, among its fans, when it's clear that all it can do is

Just hire birds, they work for literal seeds. https://www.science.org/content/art...%20the%20flock. quote:The pigeons learned in only a matter of hours to do better than random at distinguishing cancerous from noncancerous cells. And over the course of just 1 month, their accuracy rose as high as 80% -- good, but not as good as human experts. Far more impressive was the wisdom of the flock. By showing the same images to different birds and combining their guesses, the accuracy rose to 99%, on par with trained human experts and far more reliable than a computer doing automatic image analysis.

But I've yet to see anything that isn't some new click bait. Anything that's useful stops being called AI. Seriously. The term "AI" has sci fi connotations that lead people to only apply it to, essentially, novelties. Its scope has narrowed continually for decades as tech that used to be talked about as AI became commonplace. Stuff like spam filters and the main vandalism detection bot on wikipedia even use trained neural nets. It's just that the clickbait articles have an easier time doing their thing with novelties than contextualizing boring but useful applications.
