I remember when it came in; they removed the distinction between animation or cartoons and photographs or video of real people. According to Wiki, it was the 2009 Coroners and Justice Act that did this and before, cartoons or animation had only been considered to be illegal if they where realistic. quote:The Act made it illegal to own any picture depicting under-18s participating in sexual activities, or depictions of sexual activity in the presence of someone under 18 years old. I did not know that. I was more inclined to either the 'fake news' theory (and had a look to see if Sunderland Echo was one of those parody 'news' outlets) .or the Al Capone theory. Pseudophotographs have been illegal much longer than cartoons (Major era), because Photoshop etc. came out in the 90s and a broad standard was adopted of "if we can't tell if that's a real photo of a child or not, the person with it is probably some kind of nonce, so let's not get too caught up in whether it's actually real or not." Anything that could be defended as artistic was held to be outside of that until Brown. (Or more specifically Alan Johnson, who was a fan of writing legislation about fields that he knew gently caress all about.)

It's funny I went out today to get some PPE for my new job which the company is paying for, so hopefully they take it seriously, got some very nice S3 boots out of it. Certainly makes a change from my last job where I had to buy my own equipment. It just seems baffling that what I assume is pretty skilled labour would also go with the disposable labour model. Surely you just end up with people effectively working full time anyway or being incredibly poo poo at the job. Though I suppose "functionally doing a full time job with none of the benefits" is the other side of gig economy bullshit from the one I was on. E: on a related note actually, does anyone know if you can get, like, XL hard hat suspensions? The one I have just barely fits on my gigantic head but I'd like one that goes under my occipital bone a bit better so I can ratchet it on properly. I think the most useful skills are being very good at shoveling and swinging a hammer hard and accurately. Generally a lot of people are poo poo at the job I've only been on three years and am considered something of an old head because I can use the tools and complete most of the more technical jobs on my own. The problem with this is that I get called on a lot to do them and so people who haven't had a lot of practise are never able to get good at them. At the moment there are a large number of jobs and a small number of workers to go between them leading people such as myself to work for 10 days straight then have a day off before working another 10 days straight which promotes fatigue and that's when a lot of accidents happen.

My uncle, who is dead now so can't be done for anything, was a train driver and had done amazing stories. Train coming into station without a driver, they had to go back looking for him and found a body. But then he got up, he'd just been drunk and fallen out of the cab. Also bouncing a train off some buffers and derailing it. Rather than reporting it which would of been a big deal, they just powered it back on the rails. Rip terrible train driver
