1. download termux
2. pkg add ffmpeg
3. ffmpeg -i video.mp4 output.gif

there are various options to change the frame rate, length, dithering method etc. too but generally that should do it

problem: app store so full of spyware that it literally cannot be trusted

solution: install a shell app, download a command line application from a package manager, run command line shell app on your phone. note the implied step of getting the path for the video and doing something with the output that integrates it into the UI once converted.

it's literally three steps (two if you already have termux) and it aliases internal storage to "~/storage"

why would i download some stupid conversion app when ffmpeg is right there? they probably use libavcodec anyway

and yeah you can make a shortcut on ios that gives you a crappy ui to do it but the output quality sucks and you don't have any control over the frame rate, length, palette or dithering algorithm

solution: download a-shell on ios. it includes ffmpeg

except also the one that just works is by pure force of market dominance getting it done, but as far as technological basis goes resents you for trying to make one format into another.

pay up piggie, we're already planning to break this next update.

why would I want to fold a screen

Sagebrush
Feb 26, 2012

i cracked my screen protector a few days ago and i put a new one on today. i did it completely perfectly first time. barely had to squeegee it and there was not a single speck of dust underneath to remove. didn't even use the stickers. flawless.

The article says that the design doesn't leave any room for grit whatsoever, if there's some crap on your screen and you fold it, it's going to be forced into the screen and ruin your $1800 advertising device. lmao

It's not about the crease, there's a part of the OLED panel that's not covered by anything and then the flat bezels mean that anything in that area will get mashed into the screen:

I have a problem trying to fit a tablet-sized screen into a compact form-factor. Foldable screens solve it. Google attempt just sucks apparently.
