The front-facing display isn't as awful as expected. Has a really strong vignette and tinting on there in passthrough.

Where is that tether supposedly loving going while he's storming around that giant studio.

And the way it “clouds over” to let other people know when you’re inside VR-content is neato. But so far this is 100% a super premium Nreal Air so my hopes of Apple spurring a new VR content boom are quickly deflating.

I only spent a few weeks with the Nreals, but I would pay handsomely for a super premium version of that. I hated the jitter of the screens when I had them locked in place, and the “screen pasted to your head” was good for games but not for work

It's actually a good idea, if you have two stereo rgb cameras in front for hand tracking and passthrough... why not use them too for video capture.

Watching this, it's clear how good Apple is at marketing. 85% of what they are showing is very mundane and/or can be done with a Quest 2 already, but still, people are 'woahhh'.

Here come some specs. Still waiting to hear if it'll do general PCVR use. I have to imagine that being able to announce a library like Steam on day 1 would be a huge boon, but maybe they don't want to mention a competitor at this sort of event.

At a minimum it can act as an external monitor for a Mac, Virtual Desktop style. No indication yet if this is generic functionality, or if it relies on the same hardware encoding optimizations as Sidecar.
