The event is ranked combat challenges, some gear puzzles, a few reskins of those overworld pedestals with the red holograms, and 4 tcg matches you can concede on turn 1 for primogems. Its less a molehill, than a completely flat slab of concrete. No Wave posted:It's funny I've gone the opposite direction. I had him on favonious crit/hp/geo 4Noblesse for years and finally caved into making him HP/HP/HP black tassel due to consecrated beasts. I can respect that. If the gear I picked up hadn't had such weirdly dps-focused substats I probably would have dropped it and left him with 2HP/2HP like Nilou. But the big number is cool and I haven't died yet

You dont understand. Some players feel that any references to the TCG in game is like a slap to the face.

I really didn't care until mhy spent half the event fellating themselves over the card game, ending with a literal "my friend who died of cancer wants me to play the game cause it's so awesome" e: i dislike the card game but enjoy some of the writing around it like with cyno but when you have literal in game characters complimenting it's 'wide variety of cards' and poo poo is when it's going overboard.

If you concede to Ayaka you get yet another instance of Ayaka trying to interact with the traveler in a way that doesn't sound like casual flirting challenge failed, which always seems to be her parting quip any time shes shown up period.

Wait I just conceded to Amber and the event didn’t give me credit for the match. I’m not gonna play 4 games of TCG for 1 pull of primos.

Yeah, the description on the event says "Complete" a game so I assume they mean play to the death

The one thing I hate about it is that everyone always refers to it as Genius Invocation TCG which is completely inhuman corporate speak. Give it a nickname, drop the TCG (it's a CCG anyway), something, anything. It makes every time it comes up be like an advertisement. Just missing a Would You Like To Know More? on the bottom of the screen.

do you also get mad when characters say a view is nice, that they like another character, that food is tasty, that they like the music, or that they think something is good

Endorph posted:do you also get mad when characters say a view is nice, that they like another character, that food is tasty, that they like the music, or that they think something is good No it's entirely just that they are up for a rousing game of Genius Invocation TCG™® It's not that they like the card game or want to talk about it but always referring to it strictly like that. It just sounds weird and unnatural and weirdly formal.

Genius Invocation is a good enough name as is. You do not need to keep calling it Genius Invocation TCG. People call it Magic more than they call it Magic The Gathering and that doesn't even have a wordy acronym in it.

It's a dumb quibble and not overtly serious but it does annoy me every time they do it.

I should probably just drop Genshin. I had fun with early Sumeru and the main storyline, but the rest of 3.X hasn't really done it for me. I don't even care much about pulling new characters anymore. I pulled for Cyno and Ayato mostly out of boredom and having 100+ pulls banked.

A nice half hour of my day relaxing with some dailies, maybe an event to spice things up every week. Plenty of time for my other hobbies while still being nice and familiar daily ritual. Star Rail, on the other hand, has completely failed to grab me. Probably halfway through the first planet and I haven't touched it in like two weeks. Lacks everything I like about Genshin while keeping the stuff I don't care about.

I think that makes me kind of like it even more just for how ridiculous it is. Also, my wife has gone so hard on Genius Invokation TCG. She doesn't do any multiplayer fights but she almost completed 100% of the single player side of things. Long since maxed out book progression. And the only achievement she has left is just currency related. But we've even taken to jokingly referring to it by the full name. "I think I'm going log into Genshin so I can play some Genius Invokation TCG"

They do avoid saying the names of actual cards, so it's possible that the characters have different names in-universe?

Rana gets Vision and she's a generic NPC who was just another Forest Ranger as far as anyone knows.

Not a bad idea to drop the game for the next couple months, at least. These 3.7 and 3.8 patches feel like very obvious filler to give the Fontaine team time to get everything up and running for 4.0. Sometimes I think about how meaningful day-to-day account progression has become essentially impossible for me and how the earliest release of a character I MIGHT be interested in is like september or something and go hmmmm

That's basically where I am right now, so I stopped playing. Genshin is something I play in bursts but it's just not brain-off enough to carry around for daily play. I kinda want to see what this event says if you haven't done the TCG quest though, Cyno got Mad if you hadn't done so during Windblume

Honestly with genshin the only thing that I really care about anymore is actually, genuinely, where the main plot is going

I'm in the same place, Sumeru had a strong start but I ended up disliking doing dailies in the first area then the second and the third desert lost me. Now most events and main story quests are blocked behind many character quests so I either have to press that quick access button and give up on the story too or try to catch up with dozens of hours worth of mostly self-contained quests to get the events 20 min of actual gameplay and 600 primos.

Sumeru did a lot to move the underlying narrative forward, and there actually was some good info in the Caribert quest, though it felt less revelatory than the other Dain quests. I'm hoping given it's position in game and with what the Ars Goetia says about Focalors, that we get some huge Befall-esque moment that really shakes up the plot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-b6rdyIJsY

I'm also feeling the lull that I felt last year before 3.0 came out, but the difference between then and now is that Star Rail exists with a lot of the QoL improvements I want for Genshin implemented in that game, which in turn makes Genshin feel worse to play. And while not everything can translate perfectly between both games (no way to speed up combat in Genshin), Fontaine would be a great opportunity to bring some of those improvements into Genshin. Yeah, with Fontaine, I feel like it's a good time for a major shake-up; we're just about at the midway point of the main plot, or at least close to it. Dropping a bomb now would be great for interest

I tend to check out in the second half of these nation updates. I really only log in every once in a while to clear the abyss and do some of the weekly stuff. Just kind of waiting for Fontaine at this point. Events have been lackluster anyway. I dont have much to grind for anymore. Especially since I have been playing since near the release of the game . Artifacts and weapons are good enough. Pulled for Homa and Aqua. I have Nahida and Raiden C2s. I have 200 pulls banked but the only recent character that has interested me was Alhaitham. Building new teams with non-meta units to try and clear abyss 12 is fun for a bit at least. So yeah, these down times are always good for a break. I'm burning out a little too even though I liked this event; the bp grind is really boring/tedious and every time I go back to the combat system it reminds me how much I hate parts of genshin's combat
