tbh i think this should be regarded as a devkit and the intended users are like enterprise customers and industry... it's pretty make-fun-able as a consumer device but until another couple generations have passed i don't think that'll be a good use case i did not watch the presentation, however

Gonna guess it doesn't play so nice with non-Apple hardware too, but perhaps this time Apple will recognize the value of not splitting their potential userbase. they will absolutely make it hard as possible to use outside their ecosystem

Lol you will NOT be able to use this without an iPhone. I’ll be surprised if it has any gaming potential outside of approved apps from the iStore; there is no way in hell it supports plug and play VR gaming on PC.

I thought the Ipad sounded stupid as hell and thought it was going to be a massive flop, but um yeah obviously I was completely wrong on that one. This seems like an even bigger chance, just because it has been tried before -mostly like other glasses stuff wasn't exactly the same- but as stupid as it seems I would never completely rule apple somehow making it work. The 2hr battery, limited uses, and looking like an idiot wearing it makes it hard to see how, but yeah maybe in a few generations they'll have it figured out One thing to actually give it a few office applications they probably need to get right to you know make it more useful than you know just using a laptop, is figuring out a way to get 3d models tracked to real world spaces, as than a whole bunch of architecture planning stuff could be displayed in a way more function than just being shown on a laptop screen. Until you get stuff like that working than yeah I don't see how it isn't just an expensive toy.

So now you have a product with no useful applications for the coming years, in which it's going to become obsolete even if the purpose for which you built it eventually gets resurrected.
