I remember someone on Cabana's podcast, can't remember who, saying that he used to make wrestling gear and if you're good at it, it can end your career because you'll be inundated with orders. A friend of mine makes some gear for Chris Jericho and some metal bands. It seems like a really interesting job that everyone comes to through a different path.

if you’re really good at it as an independent gear maker you can pick and choose your clients. sounds like they just weren’t ready or sure how to advocate for themself which is a bummer. It’s wild what gear makers can do; I’ll look at joshi or jackets like Michael Oku and the Bollywood Boys wear and just go  Sandra was featured on the AEW podcast once, great listen.

That's exactly what happened for him. He just had so much work that he couldn't keep up with it and his in-ring training.

It's also what happened with Reggie Parks; he was wrestler who was sick of lugging around a trophy to represent the tag team championship he and his partner won, so he crafted a set of championship belts for he and his partner. And his work impressed enough people that promotions from all over began commissioning him to make belts. So he went from mid-card wrestler to legendary belt maker.
