Yeah, the Reddit mobile app is extremely bad even if your demands are something as minor as 'browsing a little bit', for anything more (especially moderation) it's just not suitable. The changes to API would also gently caress up automod bots, which are really important if you want to, say, automatically enforce basic rules.

They're also blocking all NSFW content on the API which would obviously be bad for the porn on the site, but also a huge deal for the groups trying to be specifically SFW due to all the mod tools now getting squeezed out of API access. Same goes for blocking spam and anything else you'd not want to see.

It's pretty impressive how rainbow capitalism manages to piss off everyone. Left: "Woo. Yeah, you put a rainbow flag on your product. Cool beans. gently caress actually supporting people, just print a flag and call it a day." Right: "There's a rainbow! I will never buy this product again!"

Yeah, what's funny is that you KNOW all the companies doing the rainbow stuff are saying "this will piss off a lot of people but gently caress them". They are not babes in the woods saying "media metrics show that we will gain 4% in online and offline-legacy channels in the 18-45 demo if we do this" and doing shocked-pikachu face when chuds start goose-stepping around their corporate offices. They're doing this because they know they will do that and they're okay with that. Yeah it's all still a soulless calculation but what that calculation is is "we will sell more in the long run by weathering the inevitable boycotts and screeching shitheads and signalling that we would rather stand up to them and support this much bigger market than kowtow to terrorism by a few loonies".
