This movie basically has me on the hook for everything except, like, the actual movie. If the script turns out to be better than it looks from the trailer, we could be in for a treat.

Given Wish was covered by Hawk himself, it seems odd that only one NIN song appears in the Pro Skater series (Getting Smaller in Project 8) but then again a NIN soundtrack for a TMNT movie produced by Seth Rogen sounds out of Mad Libs by comparison.

It makes sense when you remember they made the Soul soundtrack and he even has talked about in some interviews but also especially in discord back last year how he’s very excited to be into what his kids are into. I can only imagine this stemmed from that.

The weird part was NIN being in only one late era THPS game when the man himself covered Wish.

Trent has 5 young kids, of course he's going end up watching a bunch of children's media. He and Atticus have won Oscars, Grammys, A Emmy, A CMA award, A NAACP award and induction to the RRHOF. They have nothing (pun intended) they need to prove so they want to spend their time tuning up Generation Alpha to their work so that the past corpus can be found in a decade by future teenagers, more power to them.

I feel what he’s saying there about music becoming more disposable, which is probably why I mainly listen to older stuff or bands that are geezers now.

i am fine with no more NIN music. there was a time and place for it and I am glad I was there for it.

btw there is a ton of great non "disposable" music out there, it's a shame people get old and tired and stop looking for it.

Headlines are what they are; the full context sounds less like he's saying "no more new NIN music" rather than just critiquing the current state of music, regardless of whether he's putting stuff out or not.

I'm still not on pins and needles for new NIN music any minute, but it doesn't necessarily sound less likely than it did before.

The REAL Goobusters

I think he’s talking about how streaming has made a lot of music disposable. As in, it’s not the main focus to just listen to an album. It’s having a playlist on in the background while you work or do chores.

He let slip (:v:) during an interview about the work he and Atticus did on Halsey's album that they were excited to take on the project because he'd been struggling with writer's block for the next NIN album. Been doing a lot of guest appearances too as we've seen, ranging from Danny Elfman to Health to Fever Ray, so I think at the end of the day he's probably just hit a wall with NIN so is turning focus to other things. I wouldn't say music feels disposable, but at the same time I have no idea how younger generations discover or listen to music so I'm ignorant of that outside my own patterns.

I remember him roasting some dude on ETS about why Bad Witch was being labeled as an album (Spotify fuckery iirc) so maybe he's just disillusioned and soundtrack work with the occasional collaboration is more his thing now. Love NIN but man I'd be so sick of having played some of those songs for 30 years across thousands of shows, and his kids are probably at the age where he wants to spend more time with them now rather than being away on the road which is admirable.

...Just read the article and yeah, I'd sum it up as Trent just wanting to be a great father and while new NIN is always desired and appreciated, I respect the guy a lot for just wanting to be there for his kids and family, which is something that's sadly quite rare so kudos to him.

Yeah, it's the 2017 release. It seems its been repressed as I see it being sold on Juno and HHV at least. I ended picking it up along with the new Rrose album.

I had to buy and return 2 copies of The Fragile re-press before I got a set of LPs that weren't faulty - the first copy had a problem with disk 2 (there were also a lot of fragments of plastic from the edges of the disks inside the sleeves), second had problems with disks 1 and 3. Neither myself nor the store were willing to gamble on another copy so we agreed on taking the best 3 disks out of the 6.

I've had a run of bad records from this store recently, so I'm not sure if it's one or both of something they're doing with transport/storage, or if it's a QC problem at the pressing plant. Both copies were factory shrink-wrapped though.

Either way, this has put me off buying a vinyl copy of TDS.

NIN adjacent: Justin Meldal-Johnson plays bass on the new Drab Majesty EP.

From the tracks they've released it sounds closer to late 80s Madchester & early 90s shoegaze than their earlier new wave stuff.

Drab Majesty are great, I recommend their whole discography if you're not already a fan. The main guy is a stage persona of Emma Ruth Rundle's old drummer from her band Marriages.

Filter's new stuff sounds half new direction/half 90s throwback, and I'm digging it. The new album has Brian Liesegang returning for a few tracks, from the collaboration they were going to do before PledgeMusic went under.
