Yeah, with the music ramping up and the dialogue and cuts becoming snappier, it's real exciting watching Phoenix cook. And again, bless you for showing all these alternative paths, DKII, the effort here is amazing.

Incidentally, DKII, if you're having fun with Ace Attorney (which I imagine you are otherwise you wouldn't be LPing it), I heavily recommend giving Ghost Trick a spin. I think it's set in the Ace Attorney universe, but it's not really connected to anything. So it's just a charming, one game spin-off you can just give a try whenever. There's a free demo out for a re-release that covers the first two chapters.

Part 104: Episode 4, Day 3, Trial: The Wright Testimony The other two options don't really make any sense for our case, since Hammond couldn't have been on the boat, so let's just go with the only one that does. Music: Silence Sound: Desk Slam Sound: Objection quote:Saying that the murderer and Hammond are on the boat is kind of pedantic but just leads back to the judge pointing out that Edgeworth was on the boat so must be the murderer then: quote:Outright saying that it was Edgeworth and Hammond in the boat basically gaslights Karma; that act is almost worth the penalty. Music: Objection! He assumed the guise of Mr. Hammond and met Edgeworth! Sound: Gallery Sound: Gavel x 3 Wh... What!? Are you serious? However, I have a hunch. That night, Robert Hammond called Edgeworth to the lake. Sound: Desk Slam That... actually makes sense. We've established that Edgeworth spent the last fifteen years basically denying everything about the DL-6 Incident, rather than obsessing over it. He probably couldn't have picked Hammond out of a lineup. ... L-Ludicrous! Sound: Whack Mr. Wright. Uhh we're still a day away from that. Another penalty, but luckily there's another clear choice here. Actually, I don't know the murderer's name. Sound: Realization Music: Silence Y-you don't know!? Sound: Stab Bah! Again, you waste my time! Sound: Damage 2 Sound: Desk Slam Wait, are you...? quote:Stating that "Miles Edgeworth" is the murderer, as expected, doesn't go anywhere: quote:Saying "Lotta Hart" is at least a better joke option. Music: Telling the Truth ...! Sound: Light Bulb That's your best theory? The crazy old man pulled off this genius scenario? Sound: Desk Slam At 11:50, he was the one who killed Robert Hammond. The caretaker of the boat shop!? Wh-where did he do this!? Sound: Whack There weren't any boats on the lake then! Why would he have to go all the way out on the lake just to shoot someone? Sound: Realization I'm not as shocked by the revelations the last couple updates since I didn't really buy into the assumptions that the game wanted me to make here - mainly, that the murder took place in a boat on the lake, with only Edgeworth and the victim present. But I'm still not really buying into the old caretaker being the murderer, either. This theory feels more like when we accused Oldbag of being the murderer last episode, to buy ourselves another day. What!? Sound: Light Bulb Sound: Whack I don't really know any better, but it doesn't make sense for the caretaker to have done the deed anywhere but at his boat rental shack/pasta restaurant. No penalty on this choice at least. Sound: Desk Slam Here, of course! The boat shop, where he lives? Yeah, that's what I meant to say earlier! There's totally a reason. quote:Another option could be Lotta's campsite. If Lotta were the killer. Which she isn't. quote:I didn't find any other special "wrong" answers, but clicking anywhere else on the map gets us a generic failure: Recall Larry's testimony if you will. Music: Logic and Trick We're treated to a little animation of Larry in a boat searching all over the lake for his balloon. Eventually Larry finds it and heads back to the boat rental shop... Oh, I get it. That's where he heard the gunshot. And it was still close enough to set off Lotta's camera, but not enough to wake her up? He finds it, and returns the boat. Sound: Weak Gunshot He heard a gunshot, Your Honor! Even though he was wearing headphones at the time! Music: Silence And where would that be if he had just returned a boat? Sound: Realization Sound: Gallery Sound: Gavel Mr. Wright! Please tell the court, from the beginning! Y-yes, Your Honor. Not at all. What is the old caretaker's motive for killing Hammond, his defense attorney from fifteen years ago? Um, not really. But, I think if I start at the very beginning... Music: Questioning - Allegro That night... We're out of witnesses, so we mark the end of the trial day by giving "Allegro" to Phoenix for his theory of the crime. We could probably take a break soon, but we're nearing the end of the trial day so I'll let the rest play out from here. Sound: Weak Gunshot This was around 11:50. That was when the gunshot that Larry heard was fired. He became Robert Hammond! Okay, the judge interrupted us. But another easy choice here. quote:Did Edgeworth fire the pistol? Nahhh. Sound: Weak Gunshot He shot twice. Both missed Edgeworth, on purpose. Sound: Weak Gunshot Wait a minute... Sound: Realization Y-yes? Because that's how you establish witnesses! A single gunshot is easily mistaken for something else and forgotten, but a second gunshot happens when you're already paying attention. Uh... (Details! Details) Sound: Realization Know this, Mr. Wright. Sound: Fwa-Shing 2 Another easy question, even if we hadn't figured it out already. The shots were missed on purpose, so the fact that the first shot missed is irrelevant. Note however there's actually a penalty on this choice! quote:Obviously, the first shot missed so the killer had to shoot again! And... also missed. Create a witness...? Sound: Swoop 2 Sound: Weak Gunshot That ensures that anyone who heard the shot would look at the lake. Next! Sound: Weak Gunshot Then... Sound: Swoop 2 Sound: Dump Leaving the pistol in the boat behind him. ... I see! To someone looking from the edge of the lake... The murderer didn't know about the automatic camera, of course. Sound: Desk Slam Okay, that's a pretty neatly tied-up story. So did the old caretaker really do it? Did he fool us with his crazy guy act? Why bother trying to make a witness, if the caretaker was the killer, and was also going to be the witness? Just in case anyone else was out there? I'm still not buying that the caretaker did it. Maybe someone related to him - one of his kids, Meg or Keith? Hmm... Once you realize that, everything else falls into place! Then he put Mr. Hammond's wet coat back on the body. And threw the body into the lake! This is what happened, Your Honor. Sound: Realization Music: Silence ... ... ... Sound: Gavel ... Bailiff! Sound: Light Bulb The boat shop caretaker! Quickly! Sound: Whack Sound: Gallery Sound: Gavel x 3 Music: Trial Very well. While we are waiting for the caretaker... Yeah, we need to grill this guy that we just proved innocent. Mr. Edgeworth. Please take the stand. If Edgeworth goes back to being a prosecutor after this case is all over, would his relationship with the judge be better or worse than it was before? Mr. Edgeworth... Yes. Well? Why did you go to the lake that night? ... Astonishingly so, actually. Yes... The letter was signed, "Robert Hammond." He asked me to come to the boat shop by the lake at midnight on Christmas Eve. Something important? Sound: Realization ... The DL-6 Incident, I assume. Hmm... Music: Silence Sound: Objection The bailiff interrupts us with what is sure to be good news. Bailiff! We are conducting a trial here, I ask that you remain quiet... Sound: Guilty Hmm. Either the old caretaker really is guilty or someone is tying up loose ends. Music: Suspense What!? Sound: Whack What should I do? Sound: Whack Sound: Objection I've been assuming there's one day of trial left. And we have a lot of evidence left that we haven't used yet. I have no idea where we're going from here, though. Sound: Gallery Sound: Gavel x 3 That poor gavel is getting a workout today. Music: Silence Sound: Whack ... Karma is having a really bad day. Hmm... Bullshit, but expected at this point. I will extend the trial until tomorrow, the final day allowed. Am I understood? ... One more thing. Just who is that boat shop caretaker? You think? I want him, and I want to know who he is. ... Sound: Gavel Well, we survived another day of trial. I'm oddly dissatisfied with how it ended though. There's something else going on here. Music: Courtroom Lobby ~ Beginning Overture Yay, Nick! You did it! Sound: Light Bulb Yeah... Well, at least we got out from under that guilty verdict... And what about Larry! That was something else! Larry really helped us out! Sound: Light Bulb Sure, once I sifted through his "unique" testimony. Still... he did save us. I just wish our cases weren't so down to the wire all the time. I know what you mean. Hey, Edgeworth... Sound: Realization ... Umm... Mr. Edgeworth? ! Sound: Light Bulb Don't look so pained! You could try to smile just a little...? Relax! ... I'm sorry... Music: Silence Sound: Realization Wh-what do you mean? Music: Suspense Wright... And I don't know whether or not to tell you... Edgeworth? No... there's so little time left. ... Hmm. I can't make up my mind. ... What is this about, Edgeworth? ... A memory of a crime... that I committed. A crime you committed? Sound: Realization Music: Silence Music: Suspense Well, poo poo. Edgeworth killed his father in the DL-6 Incident, didn't he? (I assume accidentally somehow...) And then Yanni Yogi (probably the old caretaker) not only suffered brain damage but took the blame for the whole thing. I guess that explains why he'd want to frame Edgeworth, though I don't really get why he'd want to kill the defense attorney that got him declared not guilty of the whole thing. Music: Jingle - It Can't End Here With that kind of setup, I imagine we'll be digging even more into the DL-6 Incident in our last day of investigation. I don't know where that really leaves us for the current trial, but I guess we'll find out!

Part 105: Episode 4, Day 3, Investigation: The Class Trial Music: Silence Music: Detention Center - Jailer's Elegy Despite the victory, Edgeworth's parting declaration has apparently put is in a somber mood. A memory... of murder. ... I don't believe it. Not Edgeworth. But he'd never take someone's life! Never! Nick... Sound: Door Opens Sound: Light Bulb Oh good, he's back. Music: Happy People Whaddya think of my performance today? Sound: Whack S-swooning? Me? Sound: Light Bulb Oh... Oh, yes. I do remember feeling faint. Sound: Whack Right, Nick? H-huh? Me!? Sound: Light Bulb I... uh, well, maybe my heart skipped a beat or two... ... Music: Silence Sound: Realization C'mon! I saved Edgeworth in there, dude! Edgey! Sound: Whack Sound: Damage 2 I need to mentally prepare before talking to Larry, so let's see if he'll say anything interesting about any of our evidence. (I'm glad someone's happy about how this case is going...) (He seems too happy to care about anything I show him.) Alas, we just get that reaction to everything. I guess we have no choice but to talk. I suppose I owe him this much at least. Larry... You really helped out in the trial today. You did! Technically, he was found guilty. But Larry got it withdrawn! Hah hah hah hah hah hah hah hah hah hah hah hah! Sound: Whack Sound: Damage 2 Sound: Realization But, seriously, Nick. That boat shop caretaker guy is pretty suspicious... Way to spoil the mood, Larry. Hey, I'm just a guy sitting in the audience, you know? But from where I was sitting, Edgey seemed pretty... edgy. Hell, I don't know. This case is so twisty as it is. ... Music: Silence Nick? I don't know. But... what I do know is... I'm going to believe in you two until the end. Sound: Realization Us two? Nah! He means me! Right, Nick? Sound: Whack Yeah, you, Larry. Not... me? Sound: Realization ... Sound: Damage 2 Huh? ... Hmph. Enough with the silent treatment! Sound: Whack Music: Happy People What even was all that? Oh well, let's continue. Nick... Why do you trust Mr. Edgeworth so much? I mean, he's changed recently, true. ... You didn't know him back then. Music: Silence Sound: Realization Wait... Music: Recollection ~ Class Trial Yes. In grade school... They saved me... Miles... That's why I became a defense attorney, you know. Whaaaat!? Sound: Drama Pound Sound: Whack Huh? Uh... umm... Sound: Light Bulb Music: Silence Sound: Whoops Hmph. Sound: Damage 2 Okay, okay. It's kind of a long story, so hang in there. ... It was the very end of 3rd grade. Sound: Realization A c-class trial!? The game has been hinting about a past connection between Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth for a long time now. Let's finally get to the bottom of it. Music: Silence You remember, Larry? Spring, end of 3rd grade? A kid in our class got his lunch money stolen. Lunch money? Our school was really small. Huh, I see. Anyway, this kid's envelope disappeared. With $38.00 still inside. Sound: Realization Music: Recollection ~ Class Trial New music! The mysterious case of the missing $38. I can see why you'd forget, though. You were out of school that day. I was coming down with a cold, so I'd skipped PE that day. I was the only one not in class. Yeah. The kids in class said I should be put on trial. Trial...? Sound: Realization So the next day we held a classroom trial, with me as the defendant. "I... I didn't do it!" "Give the money back!" "You're such a meanie!" "No one play with him!" "Just admit you did it!" "You can't hide the truth!" "Tell us the truth!" "He shouldn't be allowed in the relay race!" "Or on the library committee!" "Gimme back my 50 cents I loaned you!" "Hey, did you rob that bank the other day?" Music: Silence Sound: Guilty Music: Recollection ~ Class Trial In the end, even the teacher thought I'd done it. "Go over and apologize, Phoenix." I was so sad... I couldn't stop crying. Everyone was staring at me like I'd done it... ... That's when it happened. Music: Silence Sound: Objection "The only thing that belongs in a trial is evidence!" "Anything else has no place!" "You should all be ashamed... Amateurs!" Music: Recollection ~ Class Trial "No..." "Then you shouldn't apologize!" "That is why, Your Honor, this boy is innocent!" Sound: Objection "Yeah yeah!" "He did it! He's the one!" "We don't need proof!" "Make him say he's sorry!" Music: Silence Sound: Objection "Just think how he feels!" "He said he didn't do it, so he didn't do it!" Sound: Damage 2 Music: Recollection ~ Class Trial ... "Very well." "This class trial is over." After that, the three of us were the best of friends. Music: Silence That's when I learned what it meant to be alone. Totally alone, without a friend in the world. You did a good thing, Larry! Um, yeah, well... I was just lucky that I took the day off from school. ...Larry totally did it. He just admitted to having no alibi. I don't know how he got there, but he did it. These third graders are serious business. Music: Happy People So, I took it kind of personally, see. ("When something smells, it's usually the Butz.") Well, that was a thing. Very serious third-grade drama I guess. My initial reaction - what a horrible teacher! My second reaction - we missed out on a great Edgeworth-as-defense-attorney character. Anyway, Edgeworth and I talked after that class trial. That's when I heard his father was a defense attorney. Music: Silence "A famous defense attorney!" Music: Recollection ~ The DL-6 Incident The DL-6 Incident... Sound: Realization That's so sad! ... There was an article about him in the newspaper. Sound: Realization Music: Silence Sound: Shock 2 Sound: Shock 2 Music: Recollection ~ The DL-6 Incident But why? Sound: Whack That's what I thought too. I tried to get in touch with him I don't know how many times... He never replied. I couldn't just drop it, though. I wanted to meet him, to learn why he had become who he became. That's when I decided. Music: Silence Sound: Guilty Wait... You don't mean...? That's why!? Sound: Realization Seems like it'd be a lot simpler to hang out outside the courthouse, no? I guess beating him at trial twice and rubbing his face in it is a way friendlier way to re-introduce yourself. Music: Recollection ~ The DL-6 Incident If I was a defense attorney, I knew he'd have to meet me whether he wanted to or not. In court. ... Edgeworth believed in me, and I believe in him. He's in pain... And no one's on his side. I feel like we've ventured off somewhere between soap opera and anime plot here, but I guess we're still nowhere near the spirit-medium-channeling-her-dead-sister territory we hit awhile back. Whoa... Nick. Uh... yes. Sound: Realization (Except I don't remember saying I'd do it for free...) Music: Silence Aww, Nick! Nick!!! Nick! Sound: Light Bulb Right. (It very well may be...) First, there's that rental boat shop caretaker. I'd settle for who. (I guess I can clean out some of this evidence I no longer need...) (...) Okay, let's go! Sound: Light Bulb Music: Happy People Sure enough, we've lost some evidence. I guess that'll make the last day of trial a little easier? Here's what's no longer available to us:
We'd already used all of those, and it makes sense we wouldn't need any of them anymore. We still have eleven pieces of evidence to work with, though. (There's also the "DL-6 Incident Photo" on the second page.) Well, that was a lot of talking but we got some nice back story out of it. We've got a few options for where to go it seems. Where should we go first?

Part 106: Episode 4, Day 3, Investigation: A Letter Uh, I guess I'll go in order then? Music: Silence ... You look as grim as always. Hmph. Class trial? What do you mean? Sound: Realization You... don't remember? Sound: Light Bulb No, I don't. Lunch money...? ... I can't say I remember a lot of specifics from third grade. That's when I first started wearing glasses, I think. Well, it probably only really mattered to me anyway. Mr. Edgeworth, didn't you know? ... Ridiculous! Sound: Realization (Gee... thanks.) That said... It does sound like the kind of thing you'd do. Music: Detention Center - Jailer's Elegy Well, maybe yeah, but... I think you changed too much, Edgeworth. ... Perhaps. quote:If we hadn't talked to Larry about the class trial yet, we wouldn't be able to talk to Edgeworth here. Let's play the evidence game. Sorry. I guess he doesn't care about our badge today. So be it. Um, uh, no reason. ... Granted, you were at the end of your rope, but still. Nick, he noticed. Hah hah. ... It was that case that changed my life. (Tomorrow... Could that be a coincidence?) But... even if the case is finally closed on paper... Poor Mr. Edgeworth! N-Nick! No! Sound: Whack (You're right...) (Now probably isn't a good time to dredge up those memories...) Nonsense, that's exactly what we're here for! Uh, um, n-nothing. Huh? We're out of evidence, so let's chat. Hey, Edgeworth. Why did you become a prosecutor, anyway? You used to look up to your dad... You said you wanted to be a defense attorney, right? ... What do you mean? My father was taken from me, and you want me to defend criminals? One suspect was apprehended in your father's murder, right? His name... was Yanni Yogi. He had to be the shooter, any way you look at it! (That would be Robert Hammond...) Sound: Wipe When we were rescued, we all suffered oxygen deprivation. Sound: Realization Lost your memory? He claimed Yanni Yogi had been "not of sound mind" due to the oxygen deprivation. Well there's a big difference between "not guilty because he's crazy" and "innocent". But maybe that's why the old caretaker wanted revenge on his defense attorney, too? He didn't like the "well, he did it but he's crazy" label that stuck to him ever after? Would he have also wanted revenge on Maya's mother for pointing her psychic finger at him? I started to hate defense attorneys. Yeah we had that one figured out way back at the start of the episode. So let's move on to how Edgeworth is a more sophisticated Karma-clone. What's your relationship with von Karma? He's my teacher, and a man who deserves respect. So, he's like my sister was to you, Nick. In court... In his personal life... Perfectly, huh? Sound: Realization And not one suspect was declared innocent. Ever. But... but that's... I know. However, it is impossible for us to accurately determine that in every case. In any case... It's nigh well impossible to find a weakness in him. Um, Edgeworth? If what you're saying is true, you're headed for a guilty sentence tomorrow! H-he's right! Now's no time to praise the enemy, Mr. Edgeworth! Sound: Damage 2 Sound: Whack Mmph... (No kidding.) Well, that's all for Edgeworth. I guess I'll keep running down the poll options. Next up is Gourd Lake. Music: Silence Music: Dick Gumshoe - Detective Gumshoe, Pal Sound: Light Bulb Oh! Detective Gumshoe! Close one today, eh! Uh... Sorry about that. Sound: Light Bulb Yeah... I'm still not convinced. You mean, the boat shop caretaker? Look, I'll make you a promise. Sound: Whack Come what may! Sound: Whack It's my duty to you as a police officer! Sound: Light Bulb ... Music: Silence Music: Dick Gumshoe - Detective Gumshoe, Pal Oh, one other thing! Sound: Realization Eek! Sound: Stab The woods? (Where Lotta was camping?) I did not expect that the "no camping" sign we spotted way back on the first day would actually pay off like that. He got pretty mad. No one can go in for a while. I guess Lotta's in a 'lotta' trouble... Anyway, I'll be seeing you tomorrow! Music: Silence Well, let's head in deeper. Huh? The Steel Eyesore is missing... Sound: Light Bulb "Eyesore"!? Sound: Whack Looks like the hotdog stand is closed, too. Well Larry's also back in our office, busy basking in the glory he got today. Looking around again starts to pay off here. Guess Larry has today off. True. We owe him big. The lake also has new text, since we've learned so much about what really happened out there. This lake sure likes to cause problems, doesn't it. Huh? Gourdy was a lie, and the charges against Mr. Edgeworth were all lies. I guess you're right. I mean, I'm glad the charges were all lies, but still. A trash can with no trash. At least the place is well maintained. Okay, that one was only very slightly different. Well, unless they were eating a Samurai Dog! (How would that change the temperature, I wonder?) ...? You seem troubled, Nick. N-no, who? Me? Anyway, just as Gumshoe said, we're not allowed into the woods today. I hope the caretaker's shack is still open, I have a very specific objective there. That old caretaker got away... Yep. ... ...! (I'd know that clearing-of-the-throat anywhere!) Sound: Light Bulb Music: Marvin Grossberg ~ Old Age, Regret, Retribution Sound: Realization Me? What the hell are you doing here? Out for a walk, hmm? ...No, I still don't. Mr. Grossberg! Sound: Light Bulb Sound: Whack Mr. Edgeworth's trial ends tomorrow! Er... that is true, yes. Sound: Stab Well... I'm not so sure about that. Ho ho! What do you mean by that? Well... I'm not sure. Hmm... I may be able to offer you some assistance. Hmph. You going to actually be there for once? Well that was weird. The game reminding us that Grossberg exists so we don't forget to visit him later? Music: Silence Who knows... Let's continue to look for clues. The boat rental shop. Doesn't look like anyone is around. Yeah, looks like it. He didn't seem like a bad person... There's a forest here beyond these bushes. ... You're right. There's a few policemen in there. They must be looking for the caretaker! Good luck... Oddly, the text for looking at the boats hasn't changed, still talking about the murder taking place in a boat. But, we are able to enter the caretaker's shack, so let's head in. ... Nobody's home. Hey! It's Polly! Sound: Light Bulb I wonder where your owner's gone, Polly? "Hello! Hello!" *squawk* Sound: Whack "Hello! Hello!" *squawk* Music: Investigation - Core We're here for one very specific reason, so I will of course look at everything else first. Maybe I should take care of Polly, Nick? You probably shouldn't just kidnap her. The police know about her anyway. I'm sure they'll do something. Well... okay... (Great, now the bird's going to hate me.) It doesn't look like he used this kitchen much. You're right. What, you thought he was telling the truth!? Hmm. Everything's cold. Looks like he didn't turn his heater on. I guess he hasn't been back here since the trial. Say, Nick. Uh, yeah, I guess so. You mean pictures of the fish they caught, right? Well, you know what they say... "You shoulda seen the one that got away!" (Why do I feel like we're having two different conversations here?) That fishing pole looks expensive. Don't you think the caretaker would mind? Uh... maybe we'd better not. Aah! Sound: Stab 2 W-what's wrong? Huh? Oh... N-never mind. What? Tell me! Just, when I saw the TV, I remembered... ... Oh. See? That's why I didn't want to tell you. Sound: Whoops All right, the reason we're here. Polly told us the combination to the safe last time we were here, but we couldn't poke around inside with the caretaker watching us. He's not here now, so... That reminds me, Nick! Yeah, that's right. Polly, what's the number to the safe? Let's open it, Nick! C'mon! Sound: Light Bulb I'm sure there isn't any money in there. Aww... But, hey! I'm not so sure... (I guess there might be a clue or two...) ... Sound: Realization A letter? Aww... boring! (Hmm... There's no name or signature on this thing.) (It's handwritten in very precise, clear letters...) ... Music: Silence Sound: Realization Edgeworth! Sound: Damage 2 Music: Suspense Sound: Light Bulb How should I know!? I'm going to read the whole thing...! It also says: "This is your last chance!" "Now is the time to get revenge on the two men who ruined your life!" ... (How to kill Robert Hammond, and frame Edgeworth...) (This is exactly what I figured out today in court!) (It's all here... in perfect detail!) ... Music: Silence I don't know... but it looks like these are instructions for that caretaker. Sound: Realization Hmm. I guess it's somewhat more likely that the caretaker did it if he had some precise instructions to follow? But now who sent the letter? Who else do we know who's connected to the DL-6 Incident, who had his life ruined by it, and who we happened to meet outside the shack just a few moments ago? Music: Investigation - Core But who could have written that letter? If my suspicions from the end of the trial segment are correct, it was actually Miles Edgeworth who killed his father and kicked off the whole DL-6 Incident. So any fallout from that incident, could be blamed on him? Look, I don't know, okay? But one thing's for certain. This letter is an amazing clue! Sound: Select Jingle Was that all for the safe? There's nothing left in the safe. He left in a hurry, right? I don't think he even came back here after the trial. Well, that's all for the park. Where should we take this letter, now? I guess we still have two more locations to visit first, anyway. Next up: Criminal Affairs Music: Silence (Hmm... Looks like Detective Gumshoe hasn't gotten back yet.) Oh... really? He said there was some guy he had to arrest by tomorrow. (The boat shop caretaker...) (Good luck, Gumshoe!) Music: Dick Gumshoe - Detective Gumshoe, Pal I like that we get Gumshoe's music even though he isn't here. Now let's see what the super-busy chief is up to today. This must be the chief of the detectives here. He's glued to his computer screen. The world ended... yesterday!? (He must be reading predictions for the future on someone's homepage.) Did anyone predict the world would end on December 26th, 2016? We know who we're really here for. That must be one of the detectives. He's mumbling something to himself. "Don't take my Tommy away from me! No!" ... He must be doing image training for a nasty divorce argument. ....Well that one might have been even sadder than the "dying in action" one. Anyway, our last stop is Grossberg's office, even though we just saw him at the park. Music: Silence He's out... again. When does he work, anyway? Well that one was a bust. So much for him helping us if we find something. I think the only thing we gained from all that running around was the letter to the old caretaker, but that was a pretty good find.

I would say it's less "possible" that some of von Karma's suspects were innocent and more exceedingly obvious, particularly when we're talking about a timespan of forty years, Edgeworth.

Yeah I'm not sure what to make of the DL-6 verdict, since the whole "declared mentally unsound" aspect of it makes it sound like Yogi did it but was not held criminally liable, but the whole Grodyburger scandal hinged on him not being the shooter at all. Ah well, if the statute of limitations runs out tomorrow I guess there's no chance anyone will ever get to the bottom of it.

In America, there was no statute of limitations on murder last I checked. Not sure about Japan. But it's already established that Japanifornia has different laws than both places.

It's worth noting that Grossberg said the DL-6 Incident was unsolved back in Case 2, so I think Yogi was supposed to have gotten off the hook rather than found guilty but labeled insane. I guess the idea is that Hammond was supposed to have used an insanity plea to deflect possible evidence or talk of the murder being premeditated?

Have you seen our "justice" system? Edgeworth's still guilty until they arrest and charge Yogi.
