Hadlock posted:$500 Alvin, Texas. 77511. Cash only in person. Roughly a 1914 or so Studebaker chassis. Transaxle appears to be complete. The engine is in rough shape and likely only good for parts. This would be a great speedster chassis. That's cool as hell and if it were here I'd be pondering it hard.

Terrible headlights, zero power to go up anything other than prairie flat. Great little basic "car" though and I think were underappreciated in the era.

Re: 1.0 Ecoboost should be avoided because the wet belt is trash. https://youtu.be/0yx1-50iqnA I would go for the 1.5 instead. It uses a chain for timing and is plentiful on car-part, and actually has a shorter stroke 76.4mm vs 82 but a larger bore to get the extra displacement. Also nobody lists anything correctly, I had to go onto the Ford parts website to figure out what drove the timing system. https://ogattiparts.net/shop/engine-kits/1-5l-engines/brand-new-oem-belt-chain-timing-jx6z-6268-c-6268/ actually pictures showing it's not the unbelievably stupid choice of a wet belt. Searching on the Internet is such a poo poo show now.

Wrar posted:Re: 1.0 Ecoboost should be avoided because the wet belt is trash. https://youtu.be/0yx1-50iqnA I knew exactly which video you linked before I clicked it. Just watched that one and was completely baffled by the concept of a "wet belt" and the un-keyed drive pulleys for the timing and oil pump/countershaft. I feel like in that particular engine the oil pump tensioner failed first, causing that belt to strip (possibly from bits of the tensioner getting into the drive) and eventual oil starvation. edit: how was it even possible to set timing, much less hold it, with an unkeyed crank pulley? It wasn't even a friction or interference fit. He slid both drive pulleys off the crank by hand.

Also, reminded me of a site that I guess doesn't exist anymore: I have a picture of that rig in front of my friend's house. Which friend somehow forgot to let me know that guy was stopping by on his way through DFW, even though we were all on the first gen RX-7 email list at the time, so I didn't get to see it/meet the owner in person...
