I always felt that Maiden never wrote a full album. Pretty much every Maiden album has 3 or 4 absolute loving standout amazing songs, and then...filler-ish.

Mind you, those 3 or 4 standout songs would easily justify the albums existence and would be better than any song by a majority of metal bands.

Brave New World I feel is one of their most consistent albums where every track is pretty killer, and I think Paschendale might be one of their best songs. Always really liked the lyrics to Paschendale too for some reason.

Yeah same, I think it was the times too.

Brave New World got released while I was in High School in 2000, it was just a funner time in my life in general.

That is a line up straight out of 1998.

I wonder if there is any possibility of even more from botch?

New Rivers of Nihil stand-alone single rips. Feels a bit proggier somehow despite not having any brass instruments, that might just be my brain latching onto the clean harmonies in the chorus, though. Three more singles to come, too...

adam sucks, but their drummer jared got thrown in jail for protesting in 2020 and fundraised for others so it certainly aint the band as a whole

iirc their former vocalist jake was also a chud but he's gone

First track form the new Warmen album is here - https://youtu.be/5ZpDNuJ7RW0
They have Petri (former Norther) on vocals so it's about as CoB as you can get.

It's alright but nothing wild, hopefully some better cuts on the full length.

Is anyone going to Bristol in mid-August for ArcTanGent? Lots of cool metal & metal-adjacent bands on the lineup.

Protip: If you want to go for free, every band got 2 festival passes to give away. Pick a less popular band so there aren't as many entries for them, and try to find the entry contest on their social media. There might be some left that haven't been claimed yet. I got one from Year of No Light who are way down the bill, so thanks to them for not being that popular I guess.

I went to Arctangent last year and it was great. Loads of good bands and a good atmosphere.

I can't go this year but will definitely be back the year after.

Don't bother paying for the parking in advance, last year no-one checked. Also the campsite was packed full of thistles so bring camping chairs or something if you're going to spend any time drinking at the campsite.

Du bist mein Sofa
Dunno if this is the best place to post this, but my wife and I saw Tenacious D on Friday at the O2 Arena in London. Apparently their biggest ever headline gig. It wasn't the longest set but it was a ton of fun; my wife, who knows a couple of their songs and likes them, had a better time than she was expecting (she thought it would be decent, but had a much more than decent experience), and the crowd were great - loads of enthusiasm and energy. Unlike on the concert DVD from years back (also performed in London IIRC) they had a full backing band, who were excellent, and all got their chance to shine in the closing number, which even featured a lighting solo, done to silence and some amusement in the crowd. It was a rocking, funny, well-performed gig and I'm glad I got a chance to see them do their thing live. Oh, and they did a Zeppelin cover - Good Times Bad Times - as their first encore, which was sweet as hell.

drat. I was so-so on going to see Helloween with Kiske and it did prove to be a solid choice. They were awesome, great energy and they played a 2hour show. A great throwback to the good old days

Next is Converge this w/e and Amon Amarth the weekend after. I love this season :)
