How do you get lost finding it when you've been there before? Is there some reason they couldn't mark it on a map or float a buoy with a tracker? Obviously everything else points to they're incompetent but it just sounds so dumb to get lost.

Lets try to convince the next billionaire to go volcano huffing or something.

I saw a news article this morning about a supervolcano cooking off. Pretty sure it was just click sit but if I'm wrong that'll probably nail a billionaire or 3. And also probably thousands or millions of other people.

They forgot to set their phone GPS to "high accuracy." Hth.

It being a debris field and not the intact sub all but confirms implosion I feel. Either the window buckled and shot through the sub or the carbon fibre hull shattered. It's probably the two titanium ends with a bunch of shards of carbon fibre and some well fed crabs.

The company that made those is also marketing a submersible that they call the Titanic Explorer because it can supposedly do that. No apparent public price, unless you count a rando unsourced Daily Mail headline. But presumably it costs less than the one owned by Gabe Newell that's rated for ten thousand feet below the deepest point that exists in the ocean.

Just look at the thing and consider that the billionaires chose the deathtube.

I thought they got creams for that now.

I keep thinking of that meme where poor people and rich people both end up in the same size grave, and the last picture is of a pyramid with the lol no peasant. We can now add to that, just a picture of a bunch of little plastic bits around the Titanic.

You should send this to GabeN.

I also lied, it does care about hydrodynamics and it's shaped that way because it moves primarily in the vertical plane. I.e., unlike the Titan, it's very good at going down and up.

also this looks like a gun. is that just a gun that ocean / sea gods play with at a certain depth/at the surface?

Gull wings yes, doors no. I can't get the website to load now (they may be experiencing a bit more traffic than their wordpress site was intended to handle) but iirc the marketing material said the gull wings are for lighting/camera attachment, helping it glide around without having to engage the thrusters too much, and having some thrusters mounted further from the bottom (and thus further from the sea floor).

I don't remember the spec sheet saying anything about the 'lil arms, but I do remember the controls mentioned "joystick, touch screen, and manual override". So no bluetooth controller for the passenger to play with.
