Link Warrior! This one isn't a randomizer, but more of a setup to the next video which is randomizer stuff. So hopefully it fits within the confines of the thread. I still haven't actually recorded the rando run yet, but surely I'll have time at some point to get it done. I go over it in the video, but basically someone in the DWR discord requested to have the map from Zelda 2 put in as the overworld map in Dragon Warrior. So, I did it cuz it sounded like a fun learning opportunity. Afterwards I put it in to the randomizer with a couple of fun options. Sadly, I can't imagine it'll ever get implemented in the real program and I can't figure out how to make it a standalone program for other folks to use. So here it sits for me and me alone. very normal unjank darksouls playthrough #8 AND #9 person challenges their old rival person meets a philosopher Spoiler Explanations: - Double update because I cut these short and meant to put one out earlier this week. - The entrance of Demon Ruins is a complete nightmare, but we can technically progress through there with the ring. We'll have to return later. - Ortorias had really low HP. This is because everybody's special skills (except maybe Mario's Jump since, AFAIK, every character has a jumping animation in their sprite sheet) are pre-rendered "cutscenes", as it were; to save on cartridge space therefore the game simply calls Animation ID [Whatever] (which the randomizer can't touch) and the associated pallet (which the randomizer can mess with).

Link Warrior! And here's my final video for the thread. A somewhat standard flagset deep shuffle Z2 map run of DWR. I'm super happy with how this came out and managed to show off my work. When you search the Death Necklace you can only pick it up once. So when I found the DN in Kol I could have kept searching that one location repeatedly and get rewarded with ~150 gold each time. It would have taken maybe 30 seconds to grind out enough cash for the Full Plate and given me a really nice starting point for defense. Lots of talk about the bridge between the two main continents. The connection is vanilla Z2, but since DW has the swamp cave to connect continents I figured utilizing it when possible would give a little more DWR flavor. So the logic dictated its removal. The overworld search location is indeed a secret spot in Z2. I just totally forgot about it because it's such a nondescript location. I was also slightly too far up the coastline for the location I thought it was at as well. I'm almost positive level 16 was go mode when taking the death necklace in to account. I just didn't even think about it until I was accidentally putting it on in front of charlock. On that note, I already coded up a nice little bugfix for the cursed soft lock situation. So I guess I don't have to worry about that one anymore. Brecconary and the NPC that uncurses the hero was located on the first continent though so it was never a real concern for this run.

There's a flag you can set that adds the Bright Card to the random boss drops, but I don't know/remember if CptWedgie tagged it or not. That said I couldn't get the casino entrance to appear in Bean Valley without the card in rando, and in the original you can't get into the building without it, so I can't imagine you can trigger the Smithy Warp without it.

The crow/lever dynamic tells me not even the devs bothered with the familiar card. Admittedly, IIRC you get the card much later and the waterway is a horrible area even in the regular game so I guess they could be forgiven for not testing it out.

Quick update just so you guys know I haven't disappeared off the face of the earth: Still kicking, still haven't given up on my DSVania seed, still can't get it working yet. Kinda suspecting it might be an emulation error, but getting back to where I was to check is kinda time-consuming considering how many stages I went through. So... fair warning: It might take a few more days before I can definitively say whether I can continue this seed.

Sometimes a randomizer bugs out or gives you a super obscure path forward. I still don't actually know if my Dark Souls randomizer can be completed, but I haven't run into a hard wall yet. I've still got my rando for PoR sometime that I should edit if anyone's interested in seeing Jonathan and Charlotte lost in the two-shot City of Haze Maze. I won't lie, I started to get a little tilted towards the end. I'll get another of the Dark Souls videos put up soon, I've got 4 more still in the backlog but my week has been a mess. (I did get some significant progress on a map done at some point.)

Minor improvement so far: After changing emulators, I at least got to see a little of what's in that room before freezing instead of just a black screen. Gonna see if restarting the game makes it actually work properly; will edit this post to let you know if that works. edit: Nope, didn't work, but I haven't tried entering from the other end; don't expect it to work, but worth a try anyway. edit2: Nope, that room's just FUBAR. Which is unfortunate, since it's directly in the way of getting to Medusa, and while this is the first time I've played this randomizer, I remember that every boss from the good ending is locked behind her in vanilla and I have little reason to believe otherwise in rando. DLC starting bonfire nicely caps off a branch. - I mistook "dynasties" for the Blighttown key, that was actually the Crest Key- it'll let us access Hawkeye Gough, if we ever find him. >> Last Update HERE <<

It's on a one-to-one basis, I believe. If we think back to, say, the Firelink Graveyard, almost every enemy there is normally a default scimitar + red wood shield skeleton, but here there was just a lucky coincidence of 2 bone towers and everything else was a fustercluck of the enemies it's proven to like putting everywhere with this seed. I think the way it operates is that it rearranges the game's enemies into tables, maybe somewhat based on a new, percieved difficulty and then fills it in with that. That could just be me misinterpreting it, but it feels like the enemies have a rarity associated. For us, humanity sprites, leeches, hellhounds, and the two stone golem types are strangely frequent. Meanwhile, I can only recall very few Hollow Soldiers, and I can't even remember if we've seen a normal Hollow Warrior- both normally pretty prolific spawns in the base game. Have we even seen a Man-Serpent? I think we've only seen a few Woman-Serpents. The leeches are kinda annoying thanks to their sudden and jerky attacks, but at least they're pretty weak and their hitboxes are sometimes pretty easy for us.

All the destructable projectiles get taken out by one swing, and thus also by a spin. I actually never tried against the demon's ice balls, that might have helped. Oh yeah, been meaning to post something here for a while. Unfortunately, that post is to 100% confirm my PoR run is dead (thankfully through no real fault of my own- if it's unplayable then the run dies). On the bright side, at least I'm not completely leaving you hanging; I switched games to get my CV fix in: Castlevania Symphony Rando 1, A Creature of Chaos Indeed As if the above confirmation isn't enough, I used PoRRunIsDead as the seed. I'm using the Casual preset here, but honestly I prefer to customize my seeds. ...took me a bit to find an online image resizer that didn't lock the aspect ratio, though; some of the screenshots wound up as squashed, nigh-illegible abominations.
