It depends, I have a DJI drone similar to what they use for reconnaissance and above a few hundred feet you can't really hear it. Especially if there is a lot of ambient noise or if you've been shooting automatic weapons with no earpro lol

A relative was a B52 navigator during Vietnam & they were hyperattuned to what a SAM launch looked like, on one flight it appeared dozens of SAMs had launched at once which was a cause for concern. They then realized they’d hit a warehouse full of SAMs and the mood improved.

The type of drones being used for artillery spotting are not audible and probably barely visible from the ground. The drones being used to drop anti-tank grenades / FPV kamikaze drones otoh are very audible because they get close. There's many instances where you see crew bailing out as the drone comes in to destroy their vehicle. This one is pretty good, the drone has to circle around because they were going too fast, so the crew have plenty of warning.  content: no visible bodies but 2 people prob got killed link Unfortunately the vehicle they're crewing is a howitzer and if goes off with a very big boom.

Yeah, most accounts I've heard is that they were an actual modern and professional army as opposed to whatever the Russian Armed Forces are. Keeping the most effective part of your army vs. purging the traitors seems like a legit dilemma.

"You come at the king, you best not miss" is the lesson Prigozhin failed to internalize here. If he had just pulled the trigger all the way, he had a really good chance of succeeding. Even the US intelligence and government apparatchiks were expecting Prigozhin to roll into Moscow and do it because they considered him to have more than enough necessary support in the Russian military and state institutions to do it. Why he didn't, and just stopped out of nowhere, is insanely puzzling. It was right there for him to take and he just, idk, chickened out I guess. The United States was fully expecting him to do it and were equally baffled Maybe he just wanted a pay hike?
