Both. Schwarzenegger/Stallone/Willis style action movies were big at the time and these emulate that. They're serious and grim, but with some one liners

Yeah, I was using ImgBB ImgPile for a stretch, before FFT and some of the posters in the Newspaper Comics thread let me know how widespread issues were with it just not displaying images.

As I recall, Golden Age Blue Beetle, like Superman, would have whatever powers were convenient for the story, and in this case it was giant growth.

Granted, this is Firestorm, it would take pretty much no effort for him to continuously create a small amount of air in front of his face. Like, his powers are bullshit enough he shouldn't even need the headset at all, honestly.

His powers are bullshit enough that ANIMAL MAN shouldn't need the space suit.

I feel that Firestorm as a character is let down by his poo poo name. I've always thought he was a knock off Human Torch. You can't even blame it on the Golden Age either, because his debut was in the 70's, wasn't it?

I think it's more his design. Like his big power is basically being able to transmute matter, but his head is on fire and his name is Firestorm so most people think of him as a Human Torch character.
