Liverpool lies
Right, that’s me done with LFC.

(I should apologise in advance for this rant I spose! But you don’t have to read it)

My LFC Season tickets of 26 years have just been handed back to the club.

I’ll be back only once FSG and Klopp have gone.

“This”, “means more” at LFC only does so because we are so passionate about the club as LFC fans that we believe any old sh*te the club throws at us by way of media spin. Jurgen is just as bad. I’m no longer prepared to be that gullable.

Last season was horrific. Awful. At times embarrassing. And we need to bounce back massively this year because such a fall from grace should have been enough for Jurgen to have been politely shown the door (with the clubs best wishes and huge love and gratitude forever)
But instead we were sold the sh*te that we were going all out for Bellingham this year. Even with a few “talks with family members have started” thrown in for good measure

Then, we walk away from Bellingham due to the usual “sensible sustainable player investment” sh*te we usually get. And usually fall for.

Then Bellingham goes to Madrid for about 40% less than we thought. More importantly, for a fee number not at all out of whack with previous investments LFC have made

So we’ve been spun the usual sh*te we always get. And I’m done.

I should say that Mac Allister looks a v good player to me. But a Bellingham he is not. Nor will the Mac Allister plus 2 other 30-50m players we will get in before next season collectively be either.

Thanks for reading. I also put this in a letter to the club I sent this morning returning my season tickets.

Goodbye LFC – I will miss the passion, but not the constant lies I keep being sold.
Paul, Wirral

isn't it a thing that in the upper levels most of the money comes from tv and dodgy sponsorships anyway?

pretty much

in the 1990s it mattered a lot that United could get in 55,000 each week and other clubs couldn't, but now you could basically give away tickets and it'd cost them maybe one Antony or Januzaj

although tbf there's also a fair bit of money in selling hospitality packages for £750 to people who enjoy golf, which is basically the same as a £40 ticket except you get a pie, a pint, a bit of cushion on your plastic bucket seat, and use of a toilet that doesn't have standing water on the floor

Yeah. Assuming that £55 is the whole ground that's less than £3million gross. Not nothing, less than they're being paid in TV money for that match most likely.

The TV Money is collated in Deloitte’s Football Index, you can track the death of football as clubs like Palace, Southampton and Bournemouth manage to overtake Ajax, Napoli, the entire Bundesliga outside of Bayern etc. Leeds went from taking in an average gate of £20m a year on £55m total revenue to £30m a year on £220.

https://www2.deloitte.com/uk/en/pages/sports-business-group/articles/deloitte-football-money-league.html

quote:

For the first time, more than half of the top 20 clubs (11 of 20) heralded from one country – England – further highlighting the financial superiority of the Premier League and how clubs were able to better ride the wave of COVID. Indeed, there has been a steady increase in the number of English clubs in the Money League over the last decade, as clubs that have not competed in UEFA club competitions and that have moderately sized stadia have made their way into the rankings at the expense of clubs from other ‘big five’ leagues who regularly compete in UEFA club competitions. This is evidenced by Leeds United appearing in the rankings for the first time since the 2002/03 season, with the club competing in the second tier of the English football pyramid as recently as 2019/20.
When considering the top 30, there are 16 English clubs, representing 80% of all clubs in the Premier League. The remainder of the top 30 ranking includes five clubs from La Liga, three from both Serie A and the Bundesliga and one from Ligue 1, all of whom competed in UEFA club competitions in 2021/22 and, with the exception of Villarreal CF, played in a stadium with a capacity of over 40,000 or more (and over 60,000 for all other than Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Sevilla and Eintracht Frankfurt). Benfica (24th) and Ajax (27th) were the only clubs outside the ‘big five’ leagues to be ranked in the top 30, driven by consistent performance in Europe with a Quarter-final and Round of 16 appearance in the UEFA Champions League respectively.
