regardless of any specific posters itt, do children understand the difference between "cheapo" parents and parents who can't afford the arbitrary desires of children? are parents beneath above a certain income threshold held to a different standard? do children from lower income families resent their parents more?

My kids sure do get upset if I don't buy them a bazillion Robux every goddamn month.

In all seriousness, poor kids just roll with it. It's still traumatizing and all that, but the harsh reality is right there in front of them. You can't hide it from them.

It's the middle class shits that have had a taste of luxury who resent not having it all.

My kids are very impressed with how much computer tickler money I make, but they're too young to know what it means. They just know "You got a thousand dollars!? Wow! Gimme Robux, please!!"

On the 26th, I finally sold the family home as part of my divorce from their mother, and for the last 2 years I've been skating the edge of bankruptcy supporting the household we once had and the two separate households at the same time. The boys still don't understand how I could be making so much and have so little to spend. I've had to say no a lot and they've had a hard time getting it.

so did i

but i know why: because of unions tying raises to CPI+0.5% plus another couple % back-raise :smug:

unions ftw. lol if anyone works for a non-union place

I'm in a new bargaining unit that negotiated a mandatory 2.5% increase (man CPI would have been great...) before merit. Employer is giving non-union employees a quarter point more I guess to discourage further collective action? IDK. They're also just not hiring the myriad positions that are nominally open, so I assume if there was no union, there would just be no increases at all.

All Disney theme parks should be nationalized, even (especially) those on foreign soil, and made free at the point of use for all citizens

It is the parents job to teach a child how to consume, what their class position is, and who the undesirables are.

i'm making fun of you because i didn't get a pony and it scarred me for life. i wanted a herd of them. i didn't even want to ride them, just walk through the streets eternally surrounded by a vanguard of ponies, all the other children looking on in envy and wonder

remember the best advice: "yes, but". if your kids want to rob the goblin bank, don't tell them no. say yes, but add some complications that encourage a roleplay experience or gently guides them back towards the main quest
