I know a chihuahua like that. I call him a little diplomat. I’ve seen him diffuse pack hostilities.

That third panel of the first comic just makes it. It's still funny if you remove it, but that panel included just makes it top tier.

This is highly inappropriate behavior on the owner’s part. It’s hard to tell from the quality of the video, but based on the shape of the shark’s head, I believe it’s a bonnethead, a cousin of the hammerhead. Bonnetheads are frequently found in shallow bays and estuaries like this, and as an endangered species, need to be afforded space and protection. There’s also a chance this is an incredibly young great hammerhead, still living in its nursery bay. Great hammerheads are a critically endangered species.

This interaction is both terribly stressful for the shark and quite dangerous for the dog. There’s a real chance that both of them could be hurt should the dog have attempted to grab the shark. Responsible owners need to keep their dogs leashed when visiting anywhere wildlife may be present.

We had a very scary week with Henry Bear. My folks came back after 6 weeks in France.
My mother woke up at 5.30 to go to the loo, met Henry on the landing and asked him if he wanted to go out.
He scuttled down the stairs, and when she opened the door for him, he just kept going. He ran all the way down the terrace, out into the road and just away.
She came back roaring, got us all up, and we headed out to search for him at about 5.45 am.
We found him about a mile from home, very very afraid and having just growled at a lady who tried to help him. He smelled absolutely terrified at the time, but he's back to normal now.
His home safe, but goddammit I want to know why he got so afraid, I'm just terrified it'll happen again :(

Weirdly enough, my ma has a health thing going on where she might actually have smelled a bit off to him, and startled him just after he woke up.
I have a very odd thing where I am intermittently extremely sensitive to smells. The day he got lost, he smelled odd. Not super afraid, like I've smelled him before, but definitely not normal.
You'll all be thrilled to hear that he smells entirely normal now :).
And yeah, "As above, so below" is one of my favorite weird films. How did you know?

Actually, that was just the first horror movie based in France, that had demons in it, that came to mind since I recently rewatched it.

My neighbor has 3 cats, once is a recent addition that quite possibly are the biggest collection of dumbasses I've seen. I have to be careful when doing yardwork that I double check the storage shed that 1 or more of them aren't in there when I close the door. Same with the garage. I've walked out in the morning to go to work, opened the door to have a very upset cat bolt out of the door.
They are funny though, none of them are ok with me walking towards them, but will gladly run up for pets the minute I just sit down for a second. If I do any yardwork, I have at least one of them watching me. They have not approved of the amount of grass I added, as their giant soft pile of dirt is now gone. Also one of them is very confused about sprinkers and will lay down in front of one.

Lots of cats find it threatening to be approached -- they have some prey instincts, so a large creature approaching them is scary. A person sitting down is much less threatening. The best way to get cat attention is just be chill and don't seem like you're tracking/pursuing them.
