Well, my DIY lightbox didn't work out that great. Despite using White light it came out extremely warm.

The final Sargent for my Deathwatch Killteam, Iron Hands again because this particular branch of the Deathwatch ("The Lighthouse") is in the far reaches of the Halo Stars and likes to keep a tight hold on all high-ranking positions for reasons!:

I love painting 6/8mm. A little effort goes a long way, and it feels great to paint up a whole unit over a couple evenings.

I'm so happy to see the interest in this thread alone. I've been pushing epic in my local area and this announcement seems to have got a couple people serious about getting into the scale. I gotta go buy a ton of circle bases now though. I'm finishing the armies I have underway now in strips, then it will be all circles.

Edit: This feels way too soon after Leviathan, everyone just bought a giant box. I hope that doesn't hurt the game.

I'd expect that they'll spend July drip-feeding details on how the game works on WarCom, then gradually start showing off future models prior to releasing the core box in early/mid-August. Then by late August we'll be back to 40k codex hype ready for September.

I imagine I'll get two of those boxes, but I'm going to build a version of that box with proxies I have on hand too. I'm absolutely loving those malcador, can't wait to paint them up. I wish I had more time to rope people in and get prepared, this is my big chance to get some people in my very rural area to play epic.

I just cannot believe Epic is back after all these years. I know there will be some people that get upset, but so far I've just seen an overwhelming number of the grognards like me that are overjoyed.

The bases would have to be 25mm or slightly below that to be able to fit into a 1x1 square AT Civitas roof tile. So yeah, 25mm is very likely if you assume they are made to fit on rooftops..

Talking about size, the Solar Auxilia seem to be a bit shorter than the marines, which is cool. One thing about AT that always seemed to confuse people was the '8mm scale' thing. This was explained by the designers as 8mm being the size of a marine in the new AT scale, but a man should be somewhere at or just over 6mm. Because humans are ~6 feet tall and marines are ~8 feet tall.

Seems like they may have maintained that into these models. Maybe. I'm not going to do the photoshop measuring thing.

I've almost got 1000pts of necrons painted up at this point. They paint so fast I'll have them done by the end of the long weekend (canada). I'm doing these fast and rough, but they minis themselves wouldn't lend themselves to much better. My Necron vehicles almost all show print lines very badly, the obelisks are of very poor print quality, and then were cast very haphazardly. The infantry are totally serviceable, but lack detail. It does make them paint up crazy fast at least.

Edit: My partner got me this great tiny lightbox! My normal lightbox is massive and takes at least a half-hour to set up. I use it for my art normally, but it is too big to be worth getting out for hams.

My favorite part of blood bowl is the sheer variety and quality of sculpts. I don't think there's a single on-the-webstore sculpt that I kind of cringe at. I wanted to get into Lord of the Rings since I played with a friend and there's a lot of weird...shelves(?) of plastic. Very ugly models unless looked at from a "perfect" angle.

Any it's a good time. Tell me about your latest game. I recently managed to kill a troll with a 3 dice you pick using a skaven linerat. I basically won because the other player got tunnel vision and laser-focused on killing that rat. He survived with an NI but I'll keep him anyway. You don't usually get casualties like that. You have any interest in the new teams?

Voidscarred are fun as heck and they have really good matchups into elite teams and teams that rely really heavily on keystone specialists who glue the whole team together.

No, I don't really like blood bowl to that extent and I don't vibe with its design so I generally talk about other games instead, for example I am very much looking forward to seeing the new Epic which I never thought I'd see happen.

Congrats on the troll kill, I know someone who I accidentally made give up the game entirely because a lineman killed his minotaur with one of my first blocks in his first league match back in the BB1 video game heyday

I also know a woman who does the same with kill team "all you need is in one box!" and to her credit she does literally only use her one team but she has purchased literally every single thing made for KT2021 as it stands. Yes, confirmation of alternating activations is good. I've been thinking about the mention of assault cannons and how relatively useless they are in AT, and comments I believe were made on a podcast by James Hewitt to the effect of "it would have been good practice to design AT with infantry in mind."

While I'm not expecting this to just be expanded AT, I am wondering if the combat mechanics for tanks/infantry have derived from AT and we'll see a straight port of weapon/armour stats. With a simplified system for controlling the titans. It would make it easier to cross release for AT and epic as separate games going forward, and Questoris with assault cannons under the current AT rules would make significantly more sense in that light.

I'm also very happy to see the ruined building, that is a good omen for basing.

The mission was Into the Dark 3.2. I was playing Voidscarred Corsairs
Felarch Misthelm
Shaderunner grenade
Fatedealer cloak
Starstorm duelist
Gunner
Soul Weaver
Kurnathi
Kurnite Hunter
Wayseeker helm

They were playing Hierotek Circle with Technomancer
Apprentek
Deathmark
Immortal despotek
Immortal
Plasmacyte reanimator
Plasmacyte accelerator

His goal was to hide an object as courier and my goal was to get the objective

He used all Hierotek Circle Tac ops and I used

Flawless Raiders
Retrieve Loot
Secure Unexplored rooms

He rolled a 15 from a 3d6 to do 15 actions moving around passing on objects and terrain. Making 5 options. I went first and got the object first try keeping all on conceal.

Turning point 2 he had his leader on guard and shot down my Kurnite hunter rolling interference while my Kurnathi was moving up the right flank

His leader chopped down my shaderunner but I shot him down with my starstorm duelist. I then got luck with my felarch to blast open their courier despotek and combo with my gunner to one shot their plasmacyte regenerator and their apprentek.

They then blew up all this in return, but they didn't realize that by ignoring the left half of the board, my sniper got the loot thanks to plunderes, getting the look turning point 1 and securing unexplored room, and getting me Flawless Raiders for having more points than the enemy. Turning point 3 most of his stuff was alive except for his Leader thankfully. He shot down everything, my Kurnathi which ripped into his plasmacyte, my felarch and gunner got snipped from being exposed and my wayseeker was poorly positioned getting shot up.

But by then he still had no points but I did by having my duelling pick up the objective. I scored all my unexploredI rooms, retrieve loot and maxxed flawless raiders to his 0 points. By turning point 4 I went for fleet to finally get out of his range, he failed his second Technomancer reanimation roll. And I used my comms Soul weaver to help give my Starstorm dueling the movement needed to run away from the necrons to the other side of the board with Fleet for extra movement.

With the goals
If the courier is incapacitated, you score 2VPs.
If friendly operatives control the objective marker, you score 6VPs.
If a friendly operative is carrying the objective marker, you score 2VPs.
If a friendly operative is carrying the objective marker and is not within of an enemy operative, you score 2VPs

All completed. Leaving me with 6 points for tac op, and 14 loving points for main objective. Giving me a total of 20 points to the Necron's 4 for their objective tac ops.
I had literally only 3 operatives left. I don't even know how.

I got a metric ton of forumware in a shoebox off a guy at a tournament a while back. There is so much in there, lots is garbage quality, but there are still some great pieces. I was thinking about the concept of counter-picking within the fairly limited operative selection options most teams have (selecting flamer vs horde teams and so forth), but don't formal play rules require you to select your operatives blind to what the other team is? You get to choose only your equipment after seeing the enemy. I wonder if it would be good or bad for the game to allow operative selection after knowing what your opponents' faction is.

You write your roster blind, but pick operatives from it after you know what your opponent is running. Most teams can fit every operative they actually want on a roster with ease, anyway.

Most bespoke teams are balanced around the idea that you are counterpicking your team's best operatives for the matchup. The handful of bespoke teams that can't counterpick are stronger in other ways to compensate (and often some of the best teams in the entire game).
