Nice, is that some sort of plucking/tapping I'm hearing on the guitar there? I'm definitely enjoying the added smoothness, whatever the effect is

I shell that out each month and still wish I could search properly. Lately every search is 9-10 results, then "here's a bunch of other poo poo you might like (you won't like it and even if you did it's not what you're actually looking for but who gives a poo poo)".

I hated that. My solution, since I only really use youtube on desktop Chrome, was to add it as a search engine with the following string:

code:
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=%s&sp=CAASAhAB
Can't remember where I found it, or why it works, but it only gives you results for the term you searched with none of the extraneous poo poo.

I use Soulseek a lot. There's a lot of music I like that isn't available in physical formats or digitally, especially like weird Soviet era psych rock or Japanese 80s goth stuff etc. It's quite active.

I never got into soulseek but am going hard old-internet-only and it’s been going really good. A search shows there are multiple clients and networks. Which ones do I use?

NICE! Thanks for that. I long for the day that either YouTube is returned to greater usability, or we get a decent alternative.

Nicotine+ is the best soulseek client in my experience. It’s the most active network for obscure music you can’t find anywhere else, and devil knows I spend way too much time in flea markets trying to find stuff.

I’ve hopped into IRC for the first time recently and am still getting my bearings. I’ve never messed with soulseek but I’m done with the new internet model and am reverting to old infrastructure hard. What’s old is new again.

This is awesome I feel like I'm on napster or something like that. I just downloaded a bunch of period parody music just to complete the feel.

Which song do you guys most closely associate with your early days of internet piracy? All this talk made this song pop into my head and remember installing Napster on all the highschool classroom computers.

Here was the first new registration today:
https://forums.somethingawful.com/member.php?action=getinfo&userid=231175

93-75 = 18 new registrations so far today.

Here was the first new registration yesterday (June 30th):

74-62 = 12 new registrations yesterday.

For comparison to a random earlier date, October 31st 2022:

First registration

First registration

https://forums.somethingawful.com/member.php?action=getinfo&userid=226757

Soulseek is amazing if you DJ. You can download all sorts of dance remixes in seconds. It's entirely feasible to play a continuous mix in the DJ software of your choice while just choosing songs off the top of your head and tabbing over to Soulseek to downloading them in the background.
