Tiggum posted:I think it's the opposite of this. He's saying that there should never be more than one fossil of any given species because fossils are so rare that finding two the same would be virtually impossible, which implies that he thinks that all fossils of any given species are identical. Like as though evolution works in discrete jumps rather than as a series of gradual changes. Evolution definitely works in huge fast (relative to the timescale of the fossil record) jumps a lot of the time. You're way more likely to find A and C stable states vs an intermediate B. For example, the oldest ape is 40 million years old and human ancestors became bipedal between 4 and 2 million years ago. Compare this to sharks, which have looked more or less like modern sharks for 360 million years.

For anybody who hasn't seen the film, they don't just switch out the swords for Sword 9MMs—the movie keeps extremely close to the original script. I can't say it's 100% exact, but they pull out a Sword 9MM at the same time the character announces they're pulling their sword. There's also a Dagger 9MM and Rapier 9MM if I remember right. I haven't seen it in a while so I don't remember how the O Happy Dagger scene goes at the end, but this convo makes me want to rewatch it

It's a ridiculous movie but it's also a lot of fun, I think there should be more campy Shakespeare adaptions sticking close to the original script but with updated setting.

There was no reason to make any more after the perfect Macbeth adaption was made: The Chronicles of Riddick. Also speaking of extremely 90s Romeo & Juliet adaptations, there's also Romeo Must Die. The idea of interpreting the two families as Chinese and Black mafia battling things out mostly through Kung Fu is just such a perfect time capsule.
