I'm off of Twitter and haven't made a Threads account - are you folks seeing a major migration over there by people you follow?

especially interested if the big journalists like Maggie Haberman are posting over there. seems like the news accounts on twitter are big drivers engagement

absolutely not. anyone who was a big twitter user who opened a threads account is still posting on twitter -- threads is just another thing to post about on twitter

Threads or any other service will only truly start sapping users from Twitter when something happens to make Twitter truly unusable rather than just unreliable and mildly annoying.

I've been hearing otherwise, and the allegation is that the fee structure was strictly for billed-time, which is also very reasonable (and expensive!). (In the event, the "recovery" would go to the shareholders, not the company itself.)

Maybe, but there's a difference between writing a thinly veiled Twitter rant as a complaint (see, e.g., any number of Trump's civil suits that got dismissed) and this suit, which is a perfectly reasonable complaint that follows both the substantive and procedural laws in question. Wachtell is free to dispute the facts either in substance or as they are framed, and it may yet turn out the whole thing is a fabrication (which will get the lawyer sanctioned, see also the various Trump suits that get dismissed with a swing of a 20lb mallet) but the actual allegation isn't some galaxy brain nonsense that is clearly insane.

That brief was worth $18 million, deffo. Whether it was worth an additional $80 million is, uh, a bit harder to justify.

Oh, granted 100%. I am factoring in my amusement at the whole shebang though, which easily makes up the difference.

Do you have any links? This isn't my area at all but it seems facially plausible, like not a slam dunk in either direction. Presume they will eventually settle for some fraction of the amount rather than go to trial though.

It seems like it would be bad advertising for a mergers and acquisitions firm to agree they can't prove they don't graft from an acquisition client.

Like maybe they do graft but the sheer capitalism of coming off as a bad firm to represent an acquisition seems like a reason to do good work and argue in court that good work is what you do.

nah, Truth was all Nazis from the beginning, driving away normies

Twitter is getting there but Trump returning might keep it alive

Trump posting on some normal social mastodon instance (as if lol) or Threads (lmao he has to outwardly pretend Meta isn't extremely friendly to the alt right) would bring in Nazis but it would bring in even more journos and normies

He has made his own little fiefdom, pathetic and small as it is. There was nothing really for him to gain in going back to Twitter and being potentially under someone else's control once again. It would also be a tacit admission that his network failed, and Trump wasn't going to let that happen.
