in fact i just spent an hour fussing with it a bit and I will absolutely tell you that finally learning how to turn a burr on a card scraper has absolutely revolutionized my poo poo, i will never use sandpaper ever again.

When I was younger I just took the arms and back off a poo poo chair and used the base as a stool. I wanted to do better this time

Rotor I bought a card scraper you better not have misled me :argh:

I got this one for one big reason: it's got a fish on it

this is a good playlist about various ways to do it.

I bought the accu-burr and im kinda on the fence about it. It doesnt work as well as doing it with a screwdriver or whatever (I use a kitchen knife steel) but it is faster so eh

I don't have a card scraper but I do have an old Stanley cabinet scraper I found in a junk pile and cleaned up. For a long time I thought it was a miniature spokeshave and I sharpened it as such, and couldn't figure out why it never seemed to work very well. Eventually I googled for the model number to see how to set it up, and learned how it was supposed to be used and how to grind and turn a burr on the blade, and it was like :aaaaa:

the great thing about the card/cabinet scrapers are that they absolutely dont give a poo poo about grain direction. With the grain, across it, against it, end grain, whatever, the scraper dont give a gently caress

you'll get better at it. If you can tolerate sanding, sanding is gonna be easier most of the time but i absolutely cannot tolerate it.
