I'm going to be back in Vegas for EVO and I have a couple of free dinners. I'm interested in getting some Italian food, does this thread have any recommendations for good places?

Ester's Kitchen is very good, I also want to say Pizza Rock technically fulfils the brief (not really but it's great pizza) Sorry that both of those are almost as far as it's possible to be from EVO within what's typically regarded as Las Vegas, but you're getting a bus or car if you want pretty much anything outside of Mandalay Bay I suspect. Make sure you hit the Pinball Hall of Fame, although I probably don't need to say that to someone going to EVO.

Esther's is hands down the best Italian in town. However, if you want that classic Vegas experience I would also suggest Cas di Amore or the Italian American Club, both of which may or may not have actual retired wise guys in the next booth.

Ok it's not really strictly Italian but this place owns https://www.nakamurayalv.com/ Italian Japanese fusion

It’s not quality by any means but Battista’s is classic. Bottomless wine with any entree, which are all reasonably priced for being strip-adjacent. A good hole for degenerates if that’s your style. Judgy Fucker fucked around with this message at 02:39 on Jun 29, 2023 |

The “secret” late night pizza joint in Cosmopolitan does great pizza if you need one at the end of a long day. It’s up on the second mezzanine down a little passageway

Thanks for the tips, I'll take a look and probably hit one of those places up.

Is anyone able to recommend quieter boutique hotels off the strip but still with a smaller pool, spa, etc. and all of that? Serene Vegas looks nice?

Can you clarify what you mean by off the strip? (Las Vegas is fairly big.) Do you want to be close to but not quite on the strip, or is there a specific part of town you're looking to be in, or what are you looking to do while you're here? Most of the local casinos are setup like slightly scaled down strip properties, so any of the station casinos, boyd casinos, or the Rampart/JW Marriott would probably fit your description but none would be super close to the strip.

Something that's about twenty minutes from the Strip but still has a real pool, spa, etc. without too many young adults running around.

if you're talking 20 minutes walking your only options are strat or tuscany or ellis island, everything else requires an uber or a car. vegas is not a Walkable city.

Yeah, walking doesn't really work here. Red Rock and Green Valley Station are both 20 minutes by car from the strip, both have good pools and spas.

Not bad at all? Nice rooms, fantastic food hall, etc. It's a bit far from other things, but mid strip is a 5 minute ride away.

The spa there is p good as Vegas spas go, and it has the advantage of lots of coed space.

I bought my wife an expensive spa treatment in The Venetian as it came recommended. Never again. It took us half an hour to find the loving spa in that vast swathe of estate and ended up having to be led there by two security. And then it still took me another 20 mins to find my way back out onto the strip.

Who owns the empty space to the North of Resorts World? Basically, what's the story on it? How come there is this small empty piece of prime real estate?

I paid for my wife to have a spa treatment so I could play poker and I fully sympathise! I even got lost on the first night just trying to find our room.

Baddog posted:Haven't been there in awhile, but GVR seemed kinda bleah compared to red rock? I lived near-ish Red Rock for 15 years, live closer to GVR now and like it far more. It's more about vibes, I suppose, though for a tourist Red Rock is further away from the airport. GVR was built on the idea of Bellagio and Caesars and Venetian, with all the plasterfoam columns and Tuscan touches. Red Rock was built based post-Wynn on the founders memories of Old Vegas and it's a gussied up midcentury modern look. GVR also has a sand "beach" pool (complete with a wave machine that is never working) compared to Red Rock's pools looking like they were cut into stone. GVR also has Pizza Rock, which is a plus to me. The casinos are basically going to have the same mix and roughly the same denominations. The movie theater at GVR is smaller and there's no bowling alley, so it's definitely more of a quieter mix of visitors. I'm one of those people who thinks Vegas casinos were at their best trying Disney hard to look like something that was dropped in the middle of the desert out of some place else, so to me GVR's attempt at euro-luxury is aesthetically superior to Red Rock which is just unashamedly a casino. Its been kind of a dead zone since the early 2000s. Back when the frontier, westward ho, stardust, and riviera were around that area was a lot more bustling with even some off strip casinos in the area. El rancho basically sat dead for a decade and then in succession all of those casinos plus the desert inn all went away and that basically killed all foot traffic and business in that sector.

Kaiseki sanga is absolutely incredible. It would easily be a double michelin star meal. Star coarse is a beautiful piece of tuna that they kiss with a bar of red hot iron. It's wonderful. Edit: There's also Raku and Kaiseki Yuzu. Both supposed to be bangers. Tekka bar in cosmo is a well kept secret. Average sushi prices in a casino for solid handrolls.handrails. Is the cheapest place to book a Cosmopolitan room through their website? How does the Vdara compare? Saves about $1200 if getting one of those on air bnb vs cosmo's website, but no terrace. goodness fucked around with this message at 22:23 on Jul 29, 2023 |

goodness posted:Is the cheapest place to book a Cosmopolitan room through their website? I think so, if you punch it into Google maps with the date of your stay it will run a comparison, although I do sometimes find prices are inaccurate there, but it's a start. Just be aware of resort fees etc as well, possibly their site excludes it in the total Google picks up, I know Booking.com includes them in the prices it shows.

STONE COLD 64 posted:vdara will be a lot cheaper if you're going through air bnb and still a great experience Vdara is great if you don't care about having a casino in your hotel (and you don't need one because there are other casinos literally next door). The vdara is quiet, modern and elegant. I like it a lot. It's missing some of cosmos amenities but they're adding in a walkway directly between the two.
