now it is though, and has a more complete story to boot even though there's really no ending because you can't have one in an online game

No, Wastelanders was bad. The parts of the game introduced by Wastelanders sucks rear end and retcons all of the previous adventures into being dumb and useless. The game was far better before the introduction of fail rear end npcs with long rear end procedural quest chains where your reward is some long rear end stationary audiolog from a sadboi or spacegirl.

It makes sense that a world where communism isn't an option just continuously destroys itself while just changing the names of the factions doing the destroying.

And communism isn't an option because you're living in the remains of an ultra capitalist US where McCarthyism lasted 200 years and then everything got bombed back to the stone age. There's no chance anyone would find remnants of that ideology anywhere that isn't silly chinese ghoul soldiers.

What popular media, let alone video games, outside of DE and NV, even acknowledge that Karl Marx existed? It's an absurdly low bar.

There is a chinese ghoul soldier in Fallout 4. You can ree at him for being an evil red or help him out because its the nice thing to do. The entire minutemen plotline is doing mutual aid to other people who pay it forward, even mechanically. The last remnant of prewar US institutions explicitly does colonialism and slavery to maintain their higher standards of living.

None of this poo poo matters because its a goofy videogame where you can maximize your luck so you can punch people in their head and coca cola bottlecaps fly out of their rectums.

Also if we're talking communism it's in atomic heart and I thought it was an interesting choice to have the main character basically be gung ho about communism, he mostly just bitches about specific people not doing enough for the common man

in my playthroughs the minutemen are just post apocalypse NATO, I allied with every settlement just to put artillery there and have the ability to call airstrikes anywhere in the commonwealth.

Are TOTK bosses actually all huge chumps or did I just deflate their challenge factor by spending a billion hours doing sidequest stuff and getting heart containers and upgrading armor and getting better weapons before fighting them

Fire Temple boss was the chumpiest chump yet. Beat that motherfucker on handheld mode in the waiting room at AAA.

they're all chumps, the random overworld hard enemies are stronger than most of the bosses

i think it's cause like a little kid or something needs to be able to beat the bosses to beat the game but nobody ever has to beat a lynel so they could keep those as hard

theyre pretty much designed for you to ebat out of the gate, with 3 healthstars and a random assortment of weapons

the only one that gave me trouble with the lightening one and that is because it moves around a lot and i had lovely bows

I haven’t played stellaris in years since I found the whole loop of slowly expanding and manually upgrading infrastructure until getting sidetracked by forced wars and stuff kinda frustrating but I keep hearing the expansions have changed that and what you’re describing sounds hella cool

which stellaris DLCs are best? I am unemployed and terminally depressed right now so I could use a good 4x but can’t afford to buy all of them I think

for that matter, some of the shrines have way harder puzzles than the temple puzzles too

Fire Temple was like "ho ho ho, you have to get across this lava flow, but these platforms are floating in the wrong direction, solve this one" like I hadn't gotten through a shrine with three challenge-level versions of that puzzle thirty hours earlier

In my opinion, Utopia, Synthetic Dawn, Distant Stars, and Ancient Relics are the good ones. Leviathans, the new one Galactic Paragons, and Federations are tier 2. Everything else is niche. The base game has changed massively in the last two or three years too.

Steam has a bundle with a few core DLCs in it right now if youve got cash to burn. Its an ok 'waste an evening optimizing' things game that hits similar to but slightly different from Civ, but not quite as convoluted as Hearts of Iron

It strikes a nice balance between the action orientationed gameplay of Sins of a Solar Empire vs "Oh God my supply lines don't have enough wood crates" management of Hearts of Iron
