edit: okay they're like a companion NPC in a game and people pretend they're the players and pay to send chat stickers and they react like they were given an item by the player and ice cream comes up so much because it's one of the sticker options?

guess I can respect getting paid but I have a hard time imagining what the people who spend money on this are like in real life. like anyone you run into on the street could be one of them. horrifying

yes but those professions aren't someone being weird on the internet so it's different

but I guess I never really got the whole pay money for someone to say your name or otherwise react on stream for you parasocial relationship thing, I don't have a problem with the people who accept the money but man I just can't deal with the fact that it's so lucrative because there are so many people out there desperate for scraps of attention

and that movie/TV studios have grabbed copyright on people's names in the past out from under them and caused a bunch of legal grief.

It's not likely that any background extra is going to discover that they're owned by the studio for a one-time payment of $25 but lmao if you don't think they'd try.
