Looking at the trailer, I know I hate the restaurant sim style games (Customer has a balloon over their head, timer starts, make their order before they get mad). How much of that is part of the gameplay of DTD?

At the very beginning of the game you do have to run food orders but I found the timers to be fairly generous and not stressful at all, even though your character walks at a snails pace. Pretty soon after you'll be able to hire staff, who with some additional training will be MUCH better at serving food orders than you, letting you focus on other tasks like cleaning garbage and making wasabi.

Diving is the real meat of the game which is where you get the ingredients for the restaurant but as mentioned it gets fairly hands-off once you invest in staff.

I played a bit of it, and it is extremely well produced and very intriguing. It is a bit easy, would be nice to have difficulty settings to make it feel more threatening.

I picked this up after playing the next fest demo, even with the EA jank. I thought the controls were going to be way too QWOPy with the individual limb controls, but honestly they work pretty well and after a couple of minutes you figure out the flow to the movement and make decent and consistent progress on most walls.

Yeah I really dig it. Once you really get a sense of balance and how to shift weight and stuff things that seemed impossible are very tricky but doable and very satisfying. Definitely early days of Early Access but it's very satisfying still.

I played a few runs of this yesterday and it’s definitely ‘one of those’ but I liked it. I like that kind of art style and the quest based unlocks/progression felt rewarding. It also has more of a gear system than most of these.

I’ll probably keep playing it for a while longer when I can find a spare 30 min for a run

I've been playing it for quite a while, and it's really good - great selection of characters and some neat equipment and unlocks. Can't wait for the next level to come out, and I'm still missing at least one piece of gear.

Seems like they must've taken it down, maybe because it's not all that different from the early access version which they want money for.

The demo was only up for a few days about 2 weeks before EA went up I think. The EA does have more stuff than the demo did FWIW.

It was part of the steam next fest, and from what I heard from indie devs, they are automatically removed when that ends. You have to do something else if you want a more permanent demo.

"Play it as a standalone story or dive deeper by playing the original – it's up to you". I don't remember anything about the first game, and I'm sure I didn't get all the endings, but I may give the new one a try because I remember liking the original. So weird seeing Netflix as the publisher of the game.

My favourite little monsters
Jagged Alliance 2 was neat but the most progress I ever made in that game was doing a solo run where I did a lot of stat grinding and making good progress then after a while I realized the enemies no longer responded to what I did (even if I killed them) and then eventually they all just became invisible. And lemme tell you, trying to complete objectives against invisible opponents when you are also invisible to them is not an easy task. I have it up at that point.

It's a love letter to the Mega Man series (classic, X, and Zero), though with its own quirks like a grappling hook and attacks largely being melee with the ability to grab and toss enemies and projectiles.
I'm also friends with the lead developer so I'd love for it to do well for them, and thankfully it's seeming to be enjoyed on its own merits, too.

I played a ton of Shadows of Forbidden Gods in (I guess open beta?) a few months ago, at which point it was already an interesting and functionally-complete strategy game. I believe they've added some new playable gods since then, as well as elves as a sort of sometimes-exploitable, sometimes-an-obstacle force kind of like orcs already were.

probably because Dominions only really shines in multiplayer while SoFG more or less delivers on the same fantasy but in a vs. AI format

They can't because no one actually knows how to "play stocks". If anyone could predict the market they would quickly become the richest person on earth. To this day the most performant player in the stocks game is any generic market ETF (barring insider trading or weird nazi meme anomolies of course).

Faucet Drinker

Ha it's a term frequently used but i know what you mean, but that doesn't necessarily mean someone who knows nothing doesn't need to learn a whole lot to manage their own portfolio.

Also thanks for the advice regarding paper trading, it is something I'll look into. I am not expecting to truly learn much from a game but it would be pretty neat if you could have fun being Japanese stock investor and then be left with vague real world application.
