this would track irl but Podunk is very clearly portrayed both in art and writing as being entirely populated by hot cryptids straight out of a Harlequin romance. but as those have established all the sex yetis are irresistibly attracted to boring city people anyway

Also, every time someone has shown romantic interest in him something very embarrassing and/or terrifying happens to him directly after.

Unless we're including Hanyi in this, it's really only been two women, right? The siren barista that hosed him up by accident, and the barber who actively sought to steal his soul or whatever.

I guess Birdie here counts as a third but I think it's an overstatement given how many other strange people have attempted to murder him.

I don't think you needed to specify a webcomic. Willis disappeared up his own arse decades ago.

Willis's output is the equivalent of newpaper comics. Endless, pointless, with vague moments of drama but ultimately just flavourless mush. His earlier work is more interesting just because it's got that gonzo "I don't know what the gently caress I'm doing but want to write an epic tale of aliens and super powers and whatever movie I've seen this week" energy that a lot of early webcomics have.

Here's a stream of Kaja Foglio playing through the Girl Genius: Adventures in Castle Heterodyne demo from last night. I'm not sure how long Twitch keeps streams around, though.

Setup ends at 6 minutes. Questions until 27 minutes.

Wilde Life has heard your complaints and is now making Oscar slightly sexier each time he appears in a panel.

...honestly, he looks so good (and so shaven, and so clean, right after being woods-kidnapped) today that I'd be assuming some kind of magical shenanigans if I could think of any way that could be happening. Maybe Birdie has pre-beer-goggles?

WASP CREW
I've liked El Goonish Shive for a very long time, I'm invested in the absurd character drama, but also every time Dan Shive tries to walk through the minutia of his magic system I lose the will to live. I promise I'll keep liking the comic even if background details from twenty one years years ago don't 100% match the current lore.

Tenebrais

It's hard to imagine EGS being any other way. Sure, the audience of people who feel that this discussion on the minutiae of clone forms (or for that matter why a "clone form" is different from any of the other hundred ways of transforming the comic has) is more important than Tedd meeting their new stepmother consists entirely of Dan Shive. But at the same time, the comic being Shive unabashedly writing whatever they want to write is where it gets so much of its charm. I don't think it could hold my attention anywhere near as well if they were going out of their way to be more generally palatable. Sitting through the author infodumping on whatever magic rules they're overthinking this time is just the price we pay for the fun character dynamics.

Reading through atm.

At times its very obviously written by a fan doing fan stuff ( heres my cool alchemy ideas elaborating on how it worked in the real comic! Now i shall air my grievances with the epilogues and i assume everyone reading gives a poo poo) but at other times it hits all the stuff i liked about 'peak homestuck' better than late homestuck and the little of the post ending stuff i bothered reading. Its certainly held my interest longer than the epilogues or homestuck 2 did.

If I had to guess, the success of the Nimona movie has got companies looking into other popular webcomics and snatching up the rights, since I can't think of any other reason why it'd happen now of all times.

I'd say this is the end of an era but webcomics going "legit" and harder to find isn't new, really,

KC Greens syndicated work is technically available for free on a webpage, but it doesn't come up in search results, which favor the syndicate's subscription webpage, or, articles about KC Green
