It was pretty creepy. Jon Nolan mentions it in an interview for the final season, I think, where they had all these things playing out not long after they'd written them. It's even funnier that they fooled the studio to make a crime-of-the-week show and snuck in the best take on an AI actually becoming superintelligent.

Too bad he did a lesser version of this in Westworld season three.

I think in the age of prestige TV a lot of the crime procedural stuff got looked down on. I know I slept on the show because I'd seen the odd episode late on a channel that normally had the likes of NCIS and CSI, which I'd long since stopped watching. It was only when an Ars Technica review went on about the final season and the stuff leading up to it, that I gave it a shot and realised it was just great television.

I stopped watching in the fourth season, the Samaritan stuff got too boring but the description is cool

quote:

After the events of the previous season, the team is living separately in hiding. They continue to work on cases, but must now also evade Samaritan, which lacks the restrictions and human-oriented perspective Finch built into the Machine, and which is seeking to resolve perceived problems of human violence by reshaping society, sometimes violently. Samaritan manipulates the NSA, fixes elections, triggers stock market crashes, kills those seen as threats, changes data to gain results perceived as beneficial, buys useful corporations, and continues building an organization to support its own goals.

how can we not talk about family
when family's all that we got?

well it just so happens that Christopher Nolan's fugitive hitman brother's codename is "Oppenheimer" - and that's actually what turned Mr Chau around on Nolan entirely as an artist. in turn, that immediately made Mr Chau want to revisit "everything" (presumably Nolan's filmography)

John Carpenter should do a MGS movie but crucially in the exact same tone as Big Trouble in Little China
