Playing as the aliens ruled because when you dropped out of a vent and got a headshot on someone, sometimes all the marines would panic and scatter. Being the gorge was also a lot of fun because the gorges were very cute and you'd frequently be cooperating with another gorge so you're both just waddling around fatly spitting on things

unfortunately no but that would own.

also I played NS2 on and off and enjoyed it but after awhile all the players left except a bunch of German guys with like 10,000 hours and they’re very exacting about how they expect the game to be played and get super mad if you like take a jet pack or aren’t building effectively or are just playing in a fashion they deem substandard. seems to be only Germans though I probably can’t tell the Dutch or Danish accents apart enough to say it’s at least all weird Northern Europeans and Scandinavians

no you can only make the WHIRRRRR which is now associated with imminent C4ing. you can just zoom around chasing dudes all over with the noise because they usually wont turn to look at it. also the noise is so loud you can just buzz enemy buildings or above them in tunnels and rest assured that you have spooked them.

So it sounded like I just suddenly went "god dammit, loving piece of poo poo." One guy goes "uhh, everything okay there." Very embarrassing.

It was probably some sort of CPU thing (since it resembles other CPU-related issues I've had, like the one below), though I never figured out what. I think I had a 8600k at the time.

I had similar issues with Persona 5 Strikers on PC recently (though with my current 12th generation intel CPU), but was able to address that using Project Lasso. I don't know what less "savvy" people would do, since it was basically unplayable until I used Project Lasso to disable and then reenable hyperthreading (no idea why this made a difference, but I found it online and it worked perfectly). Before the fix there was constant heavy stuttering, where it would flat-out freeze up for several seconds at a time when doing things like accessing menus. Doing the aforementioned Project Lasso fix instantly made it run perfectly at a smooth 120fps (I use some mod that lets it run at 120, normally it's capped at 60 - the stuttering happened regardless of whether I used the mod though, so it wasn't the cause).

GTA on the ps2 was an insane mind bending experience walking around the beautiful detailed world with all of its amazing touches and while that feeling will never be reproduced in the same way it was in the transition to that era I think the more recent GTA games still retain enough leftover novelty to be fun enough to play for fifty or so hours and never beat

As a kid (pre-PS2) I remember thinking that the coolest thing in the world conceptually was the idea of "free flight" in a video game. I thought it was completely amazing when you could fly around when turning into the bee in Banjo Kazooie. The first time I played X-Wing vs TIE-Fighter on my family's new computer was also completely amazing to me for the same reason.

This is only slightly related, but thinking of the N64 reminded me of one of my favorite and most-played games on it - Diddy Kong Racing. I remember thinking it was *way* better than Mario Kart (and I was correct to think this).

:same: and in many ways GTA3 dialed up that X-Wing on a beige Mac being insanely impressive feeling of innovation to a thousand. it’s kinda sad to think that particular kind of fundamental transition to a more open or powerful medium is unlikely to happen again, VR was the last frontier and it’s hardly vital
