I just started Black Flag today, all the AssCreed games I've played have had ragdoll issues, but this one seems like it has an extra level of silly flopiness compared to the newest few. I had a good laugh at this guy getting stuck in my resheath animation.

I wish you could do that as an actual move, just zoop a fresh corpse into the air real quick for some extra style points

The opening of Skyrim still makes me extremely stressed to this day, mainly because I'm always waiting for the cart to launch off into space and dreading trying to figure out which of the 600 mods is causing it this time. Thankfully, alternate start mods exist and I have not had to face the fear of Cart for some time.

didn't a lot of the cart issues happen because a bee could cross the path of the wagon and make all hell break loose

also I remember in the early days of skyrim where I was literally blocked from progressing quests because the dragons would never land and would only fly backwards for about two weeks, and if you got enough lucky mid-air shots to take its health to zero it would fly backwards even harder and replenish all of its health

Yeah the cart is notoriously glitchy and however they did it was some weird hacky bespoke thing that is prone to break if anything changes. So many mods will break the cart for seemingly no reason.

my skyrim install has a tendency to get stuck viewing angles. like, i cant look around, but if i move the mouse and hit wasd, i can get the angle to change incrementally. completely impossible to play like that, and it only kicks in randomly

maybe i should update wine

My buddy said that back in the the day there was a bug in Skyrim that froze the third person camera at long range if you ever turned into a werewolf. Like, it stayed like that for the rest of the game and you coulnd't move it or zoom it in. It has apparently been fixed. I'm playing as a werewolf and I haven't had the issue, but I'm running the Special Edition that came out within the last couple years. I just mention it because your issue sounds something like what he described.

Fallout: New Vegas has a hard time remembering that dead bodies in save files are dead. I loaded an old save at the site of the tribal village massacre, and a bunch of NPCs named "Burned Body" stood up and started attacking me.

Somehow a wolf once wandered into the path of the cart, attacked the horse, the horse ran off and the cart flipped; detaching from the horse. So I just sat there for like five minutes unable to move, staring at the other NPCs in the cart while nothing happened because the game doesn't start until you reach the town, but also the cart doesn't move without the horse.

When I first got skyrim it took something like 3 restarts for me to get past the cart bit because the horse kept getting killed from fall damage somehow, I just remember the horse making hurt noises going down the hill until it dropped dead.

Really it has everything going against it: every fallout game is buggy, every Obsidian game is buggy, every Bethsoft published game is buggy (or was at the time), Gamebryo is buggy, the 18 months dev time..

By the Oblivion era, the only part of gamebryo they were still using was the renderer. The NPC jank is almost entirely bethsoft code.

Your point stands, I'm just saying.

I originally played New Vegas on the Xbox 360 and I recall having a surprisingly stable experience. I don't remember any crashes and only quite small glitches.

So yeah very well done from Obsidian in that time frame and those constraints.

I played on PC and found a bug where it crashed to desktop any time I looked at a particular material. There was one particular area of one of the casinos I had to navigate looking straight down and backwards until I could figure out what object it was, go into the construction set, and switch that wall to a different material.

Edit: I've probably told this story before. It's not something I'm likely to forget because holy poo poo was it annoying to figure out

Skyrim is just as busted on the PS3. As I understand it, your save files get more and more bloated as you play, until the game becomes practically (or literally) unplayable.

The same apparently happened in the original Xbox port of Morrowind.

Save bloat was a problem on PC too, but there are at least mods that fix it.

Yeah savebloat (first I've heard that term but I recognize it) was an issue on the XBox 360 and was why I stopped playing it. A quest requires me to get from A to B but there are... seven loading screens between? That's where most of the game will take place, those fuckin loading screens.

5 minutes into the game you meet a dog and to this day its eyes still orbit gracefully nearby leaving only empty sockets. And that's the only bug with the dog. Gamebryo engine games weren't meant to run, they were meant to stagger.
