I went on a sort of journey: I had an argument with a buddy over the origins of an Elden Ring VA's accent (roderika. I said it was a welsh accent or something but he was sticking to Irish), looking up the answer involved checking the VA's wiki page to see where she's from (Birmingham), the wiki mentioned she does a podcast, I looked it up to better sample her natural, non-acting accent. Anyway the podcast was quite sweet actually (her and another actress buddy bullshitting about public figures), and then I saw there was an episode on jk rowling, and I simply had to find out where roderika fell on the terf scale, and was very very happy to hear that she and her buddy are on the side of good

 i'm still having fun in naraka, not in the main battle royale mode but the 5-point-capture-and-hold mode that's open in the evenings. poo poo is fun as hell. i swing a big rear end guan yu polesword and chop people into itty bits

A ton of those had some cool ideas, hope they flesh em out. The ledge painter one especially could be a cool game expanded into like a UE5 landscape. Horizon Zero Dawn especially made me think there had to be a team of ledge decorators out there installing footholds and eye catching ribbons and whatnot.

Roderika's VA is fantastic. I love how she goes from rambling about how it'd be a lark to have all your limbs ripped off and grafted onto a spider to "Slay Marika. Slay the goddess who cursed us all." That was my rallying cry to take down the final boss.

Quern: Undying Thoughts would be a much better game if it didn't consistently place 1 piece of the puzzle on the opposite end of the map as the puzzle it goes to. Doing this once or twice to encourage you to explore the whole game space is fine; doing it for nearly every puzzle is obnoxious! And running isn't a toggle! Another issue is that it's never clear where you're supposed to go next. I often have to do a couple laps around the entire map just to figure out what my current goal is, what puzzles are even possible to do right now, and what random machines that were introduced 3 hours ago but never used are relevant to the current task. Also "simon says but the sequence is incredibly long" isn't a puzzle, gently caress you game. I even got clever with that one and brewed some slow motion juice to give myself time to write it down, but it only lasted long enough to write 3 of the 15 or so steps. So instead I just had to try dozens of times until I got a set simple enough that even my lovely memory could hold it together to input it. There's also some really annoying sound effects that will repeat endlessly right next to some really time consuming puzzles that had me muting the game, and I wouldn't bother unmuting it if the game hadn't already established that it has sound puzzles. sirtommygunn fucked around with this message at 17:03 on Jul 21, 2023 |

Got that good 80s jank about it, and each of the international cast speak in their native language and it's pretty dope.
