That's fair, I definitely didn't mean any harm by it, it genuinely just caught me off guard.

NGINX is one of those things I was mentally pronouncing like "N-Gihn-icks" until I was watching some youtuber talk about it and felt very silly.

Eh, there's still a range that's reasonable and then a range that's unreasonable.

Pronouncing a word incorrectly but still in a way that makes sense in either the language being spoken or the speaker's native language, like calling a router "rooter" or pronouncing nginx "en-jinx". No problem, good effort. Likewise for not knowing those unwritten nicknames like "Sequel" for SQL.

Pronouncing it in a way that makes no sense in any language ever to exist, like calling Kali "kayla", is not the same.

I have never felt so bad about mispronouncing something in my life than the time I was at some party that had a bunch of anime nerds. I mentioned that I wasn’t big into anime and had only seen the main stream ones like DBZ, Cowboy Bebop, and Trigun (Prounced Tri-gun like trigonometry) I was absolutely blasted by these nerdos. “Oh you mean TRIGUN?!?” with the most derision possible. That interaction has haunted me for years. At least it’s good knowing that I have a wife and sleep in a big bed with her.

Semantically, "you" is both singular and plural, though syntactically it is always plural. It always takes a verb form that originally marked the word as plural.

Also, there is no plural when the context is an argument with an individual rather than a group. Somfin shouldn't put words in my mouth.

Looking to streamline off-boarding a bit and I haven't really had to deal with OneDrive for Business previously so checking in to see what others are doing.

In previous jobs we've converted mailboxes to shared mailboxes and given access to whomever needed it, not sure what the couple businesses that used OneDrive had happen with that side of it.

Present job changes the Site Admin for the users OneDrive profile to another person that needs access to the files (such as incoming employee) and then converts the mailbox to shared; at least I think this is the process they follow, I'm confirming later today.

We also disable the on-prem user.

Is there a better way to handle this?

Kubernetes is kinda cool sometimes. A colleague of mine accidentally terminated all the nodes in one of our primary EKS clusters when updating the list of valid machine types in the node pool, which required deleting and recreating them. Reasonable mistake, we’ve all done something similar, you live and learn.

Within about ten minutes, with no need for manual intervention* on our part (since terraform did recreate the node pools when it was done deleting them), all our services were back up, provisioned, configured, scaled, and working correctly with nary a thing to do on my end.

*I did have to force boot a rabbitmq cluster but it’s a dependency for a non-critical process so nyaaaah.

I think the default is 30 days after deletion to recover, right?

I have onedrives and email backed up to a NAS but yeah, normal user accounts just get deleted and I don’t offer email or onedrive access unless requested, just set to shared with an auto response saying they are no longer with the company for 30 days and then it’s deleted. Usually requests for access are only for former senior staff members.

It doesn't matter what you set the auto-delete period to because it will always be scheduled to happen less than 30 minutes after your lawyers get a notice from the federal government to retain all records related to said person.
