Can it be Angry Anderson, so they can change it back to 'The Challenge' where he hounds tradies and Mitre10 for donations to build something for an old folks home or daycare, instead of a stupid prize home for insufferable reality tv wankers?

Daughter bought a big tray of lamb cutlets from Costco with her tax refund. They were well and truly worth the time and effort it took to crumb them and I think I might see if their other lamb is just as good.

Costco butcher is consistently good in my experience. They also tend to have a really good range of sausages if you're planning a BBQ. I've also relied on their catering services a number of times for parties and its quite a good value.

Technically we can afford meat but we're eating way less red meat than before and much cheaper cuts of red meat.

The cutlets were very much a luxury purchase, though.

Tax time this year is the first time in 6 years I haven't had a refund. I have to pay them.

That LITMO removal stings.

Could be worse, if I went into the office I'd have to pay even more.

Think a tax agent is going to be a good idea from now on.

I chose specifically not to join engineers Australia because a) the fees were hosed and b) not much benefit imvho as a mech eng. ImechE is more globally recognised. Yearly fees are about $600 including the chartered fee. Chartered rego fee was $160.

Not wrong with the CPD, since work wanted it I've basically told them I expect a training budget for myself every FY.

Yeh cos my business is earning decent money (comparative to the last five years) I decided to see a tax agent for help with it

Hah, I had to join because I needed RPEQ and my company was pretty closely tied in with EA from the point of view of supporting their CPD programme, so we were heavily pushed to using EA over any other certification that BPEQ recognised.

Ironically, I'm going to have to go through the whole process again here in the UK to get CEng with IMechE, as they stopped recognising EA as equivalent a handful of years ago.

Fortunately I enjoy stir fries and am good at making them from scratch, so there's still something (relatively) cheap and nutritious I'm happy to eat.

Yeah, EA can go get hosed. My company, while pushing chartership fairly hard, will only pay for the chartership process and not the EA yearly fee, let alone anything to cover CPD.
Very thankfully, the alternate route to get on the NER that doesn't feel like I'm selling my soul (and wallet) to a bunch of rent-seekers that don't seem to offer anything tangible other than a monthly magazine.

In NSW there's currently nothing legislative that requires NER or Chartership, but both QLD and now vic push it pretty hard
