sounds good overall. glad the workers pretty much got what they needed at the minimum. destroying tier system is the most important

unions that sold out for tiers in the 80s and 90s hosed a lot of people over and was some of the worst ladder pulling to ever happen for domestic labor

yep, getting good deals for the new guys and part-timers is absolutely key

otherwise you are selling out the future of labor for cash up front like suckers

Teamsters did well to focus on these areas, which can be difficult since the core members are going to want to maximize the top-end rates instead

our union has a 2 tier pension system which sucks rear end but that’s mostly Jerry Browns fault and less my unions fault but I still blame em

My union had a pension system that basically didn't matter for me because it wasn't feasible to continue living in NYC on what the salaries capped at while it vested.

They did have inflation+% annual raises though. Been missing that a lot recently.

core members are broadly supportive of ending tiered systems too, fwiw. It destroys retention and makes their jobs harder for longer as no new talent sticks around due to the godawful split wages. I think everybody hates tiers except for owners.

They got the last McDonald's downtown here shut down due to "crime" and it was the only place for someone without much money to get something to eat or a cup of coffee and a warm spot to wait for the bus to come.

Maybe if they hadn't turned it into a fight for like the existence of the job by telling people they'll edit an AI script for minimum wage and like it there wouldn't have been so much pushback but the writers appear to be dug the gently caress in

Still have no idea if the studios actually think the AI thing would loving work or if it's just a negotiating tactic to have like an artifical thing to concede later on that never would have worked anyway

1. The Roblox games that attract kids' attention are not even games. Most of them are the same "find the X" games cloned with new X, whether it's "Huggy Wuggy" or some other character. The maps are the same, the locations to find are the same...they just have new skins.

2. The basic subscription to "Premium" gives you 499 Robux a month. Most anything they want to buy is 200+ Robux. I was subscribed for both my kids but I got sick of being bombarded for more Robux the same day the subscription ticked because they spent it all in literally seconds. No amount of careful explanation about budgeting and buying cheap or on sale matters. The entire game is geared to sell overinflated crap because it's trendy with their friends, online or offline.

3. There are ways to earn, win, or beg for Robux, but there is no way to earn GOOD Robux. You get pennies compared to the cost of everything. To buy anything that is desirable, you have to use cash, and the games are literally rigged. Every server has their own market, and yet they all have the same Powerups. You have to buy Powerups in every single game. Loved hopping around with spring boots in one game? Oops, that game is gone and a new server stood up in it's place; no, purchases do not carry forward.

4. The games are largely derivative (already mentioned), have barely any gameplay, and also play like poo poo. My kids are constantly crying about impossible obbys (obstacle courses), other players trolling the kids with collision physics, and barely functioning rating systems making it impossible to judge a game unless you play it in it's entirety first.

5. There are zero parental controls when it comes to content. You can keep the kids from accessing real world money, but you can't white or black list individual servers and there are so many variations of each server with common word names...poo poo you can't even tell if they're playing "NEW Find the Morphs" or "New find the Morphs Season 2 NEW MORPHS". You can't filter what they see, you can't control what they play unless you're there with them every second of their playtime on Roblox.

6. Everything is a loving casino.

7. Everything is hyped insanely and inanely by a thousand screaming YouTubers. There was talk about the 'open mouth shocked kitty' screenshots on videos, but there's a whole genre of 'shouting in amazement over generic Roblox server #2315894329 as two tubers insult each other's lack of parkour skills and laughing at every misfortune that occurs to the other tuber.'

8. Everything is a loving casino.

9. RP servers are pedo parlors, straight up.

We're banning both Roblox and YouTube and the withdrawals are insane. There are so many apps we whitelisted on their tablets that feature builtin browsers that they are constantly watching backdoored YouTube. I can't wait to be in my own home again to install a pihole and just tell them I'm sorry Roblox is gone, they took it down. It went upstate to a nice digital farm...

Stupid, in terms of the needs of the average consumer, but extremely smart for profit. The fact that they're bringing back a non-premium-consumer-level EV is, frankly, kind of shocking. I wonder what their rationale is.

I think they would like if it was true but it ultimately doesn’t matter. It is both a crisis to punish labor and a speculative bubble to siphon money from. Actually producing something of value would let the grift continue a little longer but the parasites running the show aren’t interested in the long term.
