Even if Hogan wasn't racist already his best friend in the 80s was a guy who dropped out of school because it integrated.

Crazy how Hulk Hogan is the same type of racist as Dog the Bounty Hunter. OK, maybe not that crazy.

It's absolutely bipartisan across mainstream politics and internalised among wealthy nonwhites.

I spent yesterday listening to the Behind the Bastards podcasts about Vince while working from home and now I crave more horrific carnie stories. Any recommendations to listen to rather than read (sadly don't have much time for reading right now) in the same vein would be great. As for memes, poo poo I don't know I've been out of the wrestling loop since before Cena's big push but I do distinctly remember Teddy Long getting ripped on for his solution always, *always* being a tag team match but idk if that reached meme status.

Teddy Long should be Secretary General of the UN, IMHO. Let's see how tough Putin is when he has to go one-on-one with the Undertaker.

Is Taker’s “I’m too old for this poo poo” reaction a meme? I don’t remember the match, he’s in some kind of hold and he’s just unusually wide-eyed, like in that moment he realized maybe it was time to finally rest in peace. I always enjoyed “I just kicked Stan!”

Just remembered that there was a Saudi Blood Money show where Taker and Goldberg both concussed themselves like thirty seconds into the match and then just kept dropping each other on their heads.

The goon wrestling podcast "The Monumental Podcast" n(https://www.spreaker.com/show/the-monumental-podcast) has some similar "Wow look at these poo poo bags" Specifically they have a 2 part episode with goon David Bixenspan about the Ring Boy scandal, as well as a recap of the first Hogan memoir. They also did a great series about the formation and early years of TNA. (They also review a bunch of really good GCW shows back when GCW was the hottest thing on the indies)

Goldberg concussed himself before the match then dropped Undertaker on his head because Taker is huge and Goldberg was never the safest wrestler even when he wasn't out of shape*. I don't think that was the match where Goldberg tried to headbutt a door open and then opened the door inward revealing a red spot on his forehead, but that dude loves beating his head against things no matter how much WWE doctors tell him not to. *He still looks the part, but I don't think Goldberg has been in the ring for 5 minutes in a row since he came back.

It's less memorable than some moments but the perfect example of Goldberg's inexperience with the little things costing him was in 98. There was a Nitro tag match where Goldberg hit either Hogan or Nash with the Jackhammer and the other was supposed to interfere but wouldn't you know it brother, they were late and he just had to kick out.

Completely off-topic: The OSW lads are my favourite wrestling content of all time, narrowly bearing it the old DDT Digest. They've been putting it stunning content for years but their audience hasn't grown as much as others. They're closing in on 200k subscribers: give them a watch and a bell! https://youtube.com/@OSW

A random thought I had recently. If they ever make a film about the what happens/happened behind the scenes of the WWE Nick Cage should play Vince. He may not look like him but he can totally capture his mannerisms and manic energy in the promos and bits he's done.
