Schotty was brought in to replace the Garrett/Moore running scheme with his inside zone scheme and nothing else.

Best I can see is an argument that Dak is maybe #2 in the NFC but that's almost by default. And one can easily name 5 players better than he is. Still kind of amazed at the roster of NFC QB's and how mediocre they are compared to how stacked the AFC is at the position.

I don't think there's a GM in the league that would take Dak over Jalen, even if we disregarded their age. One can argue that Hurts has only done it for one year and has a great supporting cast, which is fair, but I feel safe saying there's a pretty solid consensus here.

i'm not gonna deny that dak has way more arm talent than jalen right now but if you're gonna point to deeply embarrassing last plays of postseason games that have no bearing on the quarterback's actual talent, well

People screw up sometimes. Donovan McNabb didn't realize that a regular season game could end in a tie and let the clock expire on purpose at the end of an overtime.

Dak can actually throw the ball reliably. That's usually the number one trait you want in a quarterback.

Toaster Beef

jalen can throw the ball reliably, he just can't throw it as well as dak. my point is 'people screw up sometimes' is just as relevant for jalen accidentally stepping on his lineman's foot and having his throw flop because of it as it is for dak forgetting how linear time works

The lineman's foot thing is whatever it was a joker rear end throw that wasn't going to be completed anyway and he had a shoulder injury.

His problems are more cerebral. Like he took forever to get the ball out for his first year starting and then this year was kind of similar. He hates passing over the middle and that's pretty bad for long term success. He also isn't really a big play guy with his arm. Doesn't like throwing the ball deep that much and does most of his damage when teams have to cover shifty WRs and forget about the flats.

He's come a long way since coming into the league in a short amount of time. In Bama/Oklahoma he was kind of a tragic athlete with his passing and entered into the league like that. Last year was a huge jump. Even though he runs a simplistic offense that can be snuffed out, he's really, really good at it. I can't hate a specialist just because he doesn't fit into the classic mold of a QB. If the Eagles can continue to win, good on him, if they start to lose because teams realize they can just cover the sideline against him or if he loses any of his WRs then I'll talk poo poo because I can.

In spirit I don't disagree with much of this, but he's gotten better over the middle—both at completing passes and at making attempts (I think he was above league average in both? Not that 'above average' says a whole lot, I guess). It was a very clear knock on him early, but it's an area in which he has improved.

Last year was a huge jump, like you said, and I spent a lot of the first half of the season stunned at the windows he was putting the ball into because I had no idea he could throw the ball that well. Is it enough to make him a better passer than Dak? lol no, but it's a sign that he can be taught and is getting better.
