Waving arms could mean "SEND HELP!" or "HOORAY! WHALE MEAT FOR EVERYONE" or "FIRE!" or "ENEMIES APPROACHING". From a distance all arm flailing looks panicky. But jumping with both feet is visually distinct and a meaning could be agreed upon beforehand.
