Unless the road bridge is repaired enough to handle the weight of armor and supply trucks, those have to go by rail which is now impossible, so now they have to deploy around the other side of the peninsula near Kherson and that's a swampy shithole of a bottleneck https://twitter.com/bayraktar_1love/status/1686013124971823104?s=20

Nelson Mandingo posted:Should I hand it to Putin for killing a bunch of billionaires because he's terrified of losing power....? If you think Putin's the only person who can assassinate people in Putin's Russia lol. There's an entire factional war occuring in the background at all times. Between oligarchs, divisions of government and local regions. Everyone is constantly vying for power in the higher levels and sometimes knifing an enemy is the best way to achieve goals. Sure some of these are getting killed by Putin, but others may be hits against his apparatus. You just can't tell until more evidence arises, but chemical gas poisoning is basically straight out of the FSB handbook so it's likely. Here's a book I recommend picking up for some leisure reading. From Russia with Blood: The Kremlin's Ruthless Assassination Program and Vladimir Putin's Secret War on the West https://a.co/d/422M898 Its a fairly good depiction of how the state operates as a whole and also how the government uses different groups for different levels of assassination. It's also got a couple extremely insane stories inside of it in terms of intricate ways Putin has assassinated people. WAR CRIME GIGOLO fucked around with this message at 00:37 on Aug 1, 2023 |

Everyone is constantly vying for power in the higher levels and sometimes knifing an enemy is the best way to achieve goals. Sure some of these are getting killed by Putin, but others may be hits against his apparatus. And almost all of Russia's billionaires are virtual billionaires by virtue of Putin making them a vassal and giving them ownership of a specific company or industry. If they die, another one will simply be appointed to take their place (and become a billionaire overnight). Even though all the big vassals owe their whole existence to Putin, the next layer of vassals in the mafia system is harder to pinpoint with loyalty. They might be more loyal to another bigger vassal who gave them their position vs Putin directly. Basically, medieval drama plays out if there are in fact multiple factions forming. Honest question - wouldn't it be better to use the drones to target military bases in Moscow where they store missiles and drones, rather than aiming them at government buildings? I know that Ukraine wants to scare Russians to convince them to protest against the war and have Putin pull out, but I think it's just going to make them angry and not help much in the long run

Bluemillion posted:Uh, why aren't they supplying the southern front from the eastern border with Russia? Ukrainian railroads are a different gauge than Russian ones and Ukraine specifically spent a lot of time, money, and energy tearing up railroad crossings from Russia into Ukraine to make it harder for an invasion to move supplies by rail in the event Russia captured Ukrainian railway hubs. Ukrainian gauge is 1520mm (known as broad gauge) and Russia uses 1524mm and is called the "Russian gauge" because Russia was paranoid about invaders using Soviet railways, ironically. Even if they used every bit of logistics capacity on the border of eastern Ukraine and western Russia, they'd still hit that bottleneck. It's one of the reasons why they jumped off the invasion in the east after moving in to occupy Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts first where they already had control. It let Russia use the Ukrainian rails and rolling stock to aid the initial push HonorableTB fucked around with this message at 02:23 on Aug 1, 2023 |
