I recently did the cheaper version of moving to The Netherlands: I moved to a Midwestern city and bought a cargo bike. Excited to ride out the climate apocalypse here. I hate cars

parking minimums are out in Minneapolis and Rochester, MN. In the latter, they are now making oddball proposals like four 'cabins' on one lot. Of course, these are short-term rentals for patients or specialists at Mayo Clinic and not affordable housing for those not making health care sector wages. Ah well, nevertheless.

NJB is mostly right, but the "give up" mentality should be applied at a more local scale. Don't try to change a suburban hellhole. Those people will fight tooth and nail to keep their communities miserable. Move to a city that's already showing progress and join an existing movement.

When I stepped out of my neighborhood this morning I think someone recognized me, because a car flying by double tapped its horn and scared the poo poo out of me. Of course I have no idea who it was because their car was a black tinted blur. Thanks, friend. Way to say hello.

A seattle mayor once got completely berated for that. Like he lived in west seattle and would then park closer to downtown in like south seattle in order to ride his bike into work and it created a whole loving scandal about how he was a faker. miss you mcginn. Our last non child molester, union buster, tear gassing mayor. Also legitimately smart because downtown traffic sucks balls and biking is way faster so even if you are only driving like halfway its going to make a big difference in QoL silicone thrills has issued a correction as of 18:56 on Aug 1, 2023 |

before home office I used to be quite confident while driving, but after a few years of barely driving I just prefer to walk everywhere and the car I spent so much money on pretty much just gathers dust because driving became really stressful I spent a year with an expired driver's license because I straight up forgot that renewing was a thing I had to do
